Objective
To strengthen IKOS team in North America, we are looking for a CBTC Train Control System Engineer who will support the design, fitment and testing and commissioning of CBTC systems by contractors in an operating network; manage the design review process for specific subsystems: CBTC wayside or on-board / signals (relays based, SSI or PBI) / ATS /DCS) and coordinate design, lab tests and integration with existing test environment.
The CBTC Train Control System Engineer will plan and develop CBTC train control engineering projects concerned with unique and complex problems that have an important effect on major client organization programs. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation, and development of novel concepts and approaches. In doing so he/she will liaise with individuals and units within or outside his/her organization with responsibility for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to this field.
Responsibilities
- To serve as the lead person for CBTC technical matters on assigned projects
- To develop or oversee:
- Design, installation, system test, operation, and maintenance of railroad and/or CBTC systems, such as automatic train control systems, vital microprocessor and relay-based interlockings, signal circuit drawing, CBTC wayside interfaces, integrated control centers
- System functional or detailed designs in accordance with project requirements;
- Perform site investigations as required.
- Support the Test and Commissioning Manager in writing test and commissioning specifications and performing test and commissioning activities.
- Delivers value-added engineering solutions, products, and support to customers.
- To be responsible for discipline work quality and methodology and coordination with the other sectors project interface for multi-disciplinary projects.
- To perform project work including scope, schedule and produce accurate and timely project reporting and client deliverables as required by the Project Manager.
- To have technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating projects, including the investigation, development, and approaches for the project.
- To actively maintain proficiency and develop knowledge in areas of expertise for him and relevant staff by managing, directing, and mentoring the junior signals, CBTC, and train control staff assigned to his project.
- To have frequent interaction with supervisor and staff including meetings as necessary to confirm with discipline personnel that projects are on track within budget and meet client expectations and deadlines.
- To ensure engineers/designers are following and carrying out work under correct and relevant federal, state, local, and industry standards.
- To analyze and review the design and construction drawing requirements to ensure match with customers' specifications.
- To enforce QA/QC policies for his assigned scope of work and identify possible quality and safety issues within the scope of the project in order to fulfill project-related contractual requirements.
- To work with other team members or, as individual researcher and consultant, may be assisted on individual projects by other engineers and technicians.
- To share business intelligence and resources with sector manager and staff to facilitate new project and market development nationwide.
- To participate in developing proposals, including technical design and cost estimates and participate in client presentations to secure new work.
- To share resources and intelligence with SYSTRA, S.A. partner to facilitate synergy and new project and market development worldwide.
- To actively maintain proficiency and develop knowledge in areas of expertise.
- To have willingness and ability to travel nationally and internationally to all SYSTRA office locations, including project offices, and contractors and suppliers’ offices and factories, if applicable
Profil:
- A Bachelor degree or ideally a Master’s Degree in relevant engineer field
- A minimum of 4+ years of experience in a testing role (preferably in CBTC Systems)
- Thorough knowledge of signal systems, including software development, fiber optics, networking, RAMS, and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
- Knowledge of automated tools, programming languages and scripting languages
