WHO WE ARE
Our service area delivers tools, processes and expertise around software engineering, test, devops and agile to the various engineers and engineering teams that deliver software in Group Digital. Our services are used by all engineers in our organization that create software for our warehouses and over 420 stores worldwide as well as by over 170,000 co-workers and 4 billion online customers globally!
Foundational Engineering Services deliver systems such as Github, Artifactory, Vault and our Developer Portal and help our engineers to use them an be productive.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
At Group Digital, we have many supporting systems, processes and ways of working, and at times it can be dauting to find your way to the right solutions for the right team. To help with this, we have during the last year been working on our Developer Portal. This is based on an open source project from Spotify called “Backstage” (https://backstage.io).
In order to make the best of Backstage for Group Digital, we have in our and other departments, implemented various plugins and back-end services to manage and present relevant information to our developers as well as providing more self-service capabilities.
To further improve those capabilities as well as adding new ones, we are looking for engineers that can strengthen our team. We are looking for software engineers that have a full-stack skill set and mind set. You should be familiar with cloud providers, DevOps, front end development using react and type script and back end development, preferably using Golang. You will be working with everything from deploying, operating and monitoring our software systems, as well as implementing and testing them. You will be supporting other engineers to contribute to the developer portal as well as supporting engineers using the various systems and features.
We also want to be a good citizen in the backstage community and contribute solutions where relevant and possible.
As a person you have a proven ability to develop high quality code using and applying good practices. You are not afraid to share your opinion and join conversations with other product teams to set common engineering standards. You have a curious nature and actively acquire new knowledge, skills, champion new methods, digital systems and processes to improve performance. Doing so, will enable you to change direction based on new ideas, approaches, and strategies. You will be empowered to work agile and through continuous improvement within the software engineering function. By encouraging simplicity, efficiency, ownership, accountability makes you easy to collaborate with others to achieve our common goals.
To be successful as a Software Engineer you have advanced training in computer science or similar experience through keeping up with current best practices in your areas of expertise. In addition, you have demonstrable experience in working in an Agile and DevOps environment and thrive on taking full accountability for the products and the customer experience. You get energized by delivering high quality software in an agile environment, with a focus on well-functioning software ecosystems, democratic data, smart infrastructure and building a resilient foundation, which is all part of our Technology strategy.

· Providing support and guidance as needed to other developers within the development team, encouraging good practices, as well as creating an environment based on psychological safety.
· Contributing to the continuous development of standards against which software development should take place as well as exploring and bringing in modern technologies and tools to boost innovation and development productivity.
· Helping to identify, collect, automate, and use the right data points to improve our overall software engineering process, as well as helping with business measures to improve our digital products.
· Feeling very much at home in different ecosystems and programming environments like the JS, Golang, Node/Typescript, Python, Cloud systems knowledge (vendor independent), Cloud native Microservices and Event-Architectures.
