Service Planning is the discipline that strategizes and plans technical support for offerings, products, and solutions available from IBM and its partners. A Service Planning Professional plans for product/offering enabling services, that may be for a single offering/product, a group of hardware/software offerings/products bundled as a solution, or a collection of IBM and third-party hardware/software products and/or services that may be offered as a total customer solution.

The Service Planner supports IBM SW/HW products or offerings by way of technical input for the creation or modification of product or offering components. The Service Planner manages/creates the customer support plan for post-sale technical support. They manage the product and offering serviceability requirements that will result in a satisfied, loyal customer and more efficient service delivery. They are responsible for customer service and support that focuses on hardware warranty and maintenance or software defect and usage support.

Driving product/offering serviceability requirements play a key role in generating "best of competition" customer satisfaction and loyalty. Serviceability and code problems are identified and communicated back to the offering/product Development Team's along with recommendations for chang
