IBM Systems, Supply Chain Engineering group is looking for an intern in Poughkeepsie, NY. Candidates must be outgoing and interested in gaining hands-on experience in development of new software tools/utilities and modifying existing programs in support of hardware quality activities. Candidates should possess communication skills to work with a World Wide Engineering Team.
This position and team works with IBM Development, IBM Manufacturing and IBM Suppliers to improve quality and performance of purchased hardware that makes up IBM systems.
Typical Responsibilities include: Working with existing team to perform and ultimately improve processes that are typically performed. Key processes include performing analysis for card test fails and make a determination of actions that need to be implemented to fix the card. Initial qualification of cards (review first builds, early performance in test). Initial qualification of OEM Devices such as monitors, keyboards, smart card readers, along with diagnosing quality issues affecting IBM Manufacturing or IBM Customers. In addition we look at ongoing performance of the hardware in test to make improvements over time. We would like the intern to help with the work but also bring new ideas and tools to make the work flow faster and more efficient.
Candidate should be a student enrolled in a degree program in Electrical Engineering or Electromechanical Engineering. Other engineering disciplines may be considered depending on what it is and the person's background.
