Job description

The mission of the IBM Research AI Interaction team is to leverage artificial intelligence to build intelligent interactive systems and visual experiences that help us study and understand Human-AI interaction, including the automation of human workflows and processes through AI.

We are exploring models and experiences that are explainable, trustable and learn from user interactions with the goal of informing the future design and construction of intelligent systems, tools, and platforms. These systems are designed to create new partnerships between people and machines to augment and scale human expertise in every industry, from healthcare to financial services to education.

We are searching for a Research Staff Member to join our AI Experience Lab, in Cambridge, MA to lead research agendas and to communicate results to both internal executive audiences and the academic community. We are looking for scientists with interest and expertise in human-computer interaction research, especially around systems incorporating AI/ML and crowdsourcing. You'll work with our interdisciplinary team of researchers, designers, and full-stack web developers to design and build systems, then use them to create and study novel human-AI interactions and answer open research questions in this space.

Recent examples of work from our team include studying how to automate the work of data scientists (https://autoai.mybluemix.net/), for AI-assisted human-driven data labeling, and in collaborative partially-observable games between Human/AI partners (ibm.biz/learnplay).
