Job description
We are looking for scientists to join the IBM Research Division as either postdoctoral researchers or permanent staff in a new team situated at the Daresbury Laboratory of the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) in Cheshire, England, focusing on the emerging area of Data Centric Cognitive Systems. The positions involve both fundamental and applied research on various long and short term projects that aim to deliver competitive advantage to UK industry and comparative advantage to UK institutions.
The applicant will join a multi-year computational chemistry research program focused on developing integrated data analytics, modelling, and simulation capabilities to address a broad variety of chemical and materials problems with world-class scale and accuracy. The program includes multiple research activities that can be separated into two main threads, one focused on simulation and the other on data. The work will address data-centric research challenges that take place on the latest high performance computing (HPC) platforms. Successful applicants will work closely with other IBM research scientists worldwide, STFC researchers across the UK, and partners in universities, institutes and industry, to realise the research program's objectives. This is a computer based role.
