Job description

IBM is seeking multiple candidates for a full-time, Research Staff Member position in the area of Next Generation Cognitive Services. Our mission is to bring innovations to revolutionize how services and systems are designed, deployed and managed in the new business and computing paradigms. As part of the IBM Research team, candidates will conduct world-class research on innovative analytical methods, technologies and solutions, create intellectual property, and publish in top-tier conferences and journals. Candidates will also have the opportunity to contribute to the commercialization of the resulting assets in mobile, cloud, cognitive, and services computing areas.
We are looking for candidates with outstanding research backgrounds in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Management, Distributed Systems, Mathematics or related fields. Candidates with expertise in one or more of the following topic areas are encouraged to apply:
·  Analytics and data science in Cloud, Mobile and Big Data Environments
·  Hybrid services management
·  Statistical Modeling and Mathematical Optimization
·  Machine Learning and Data Mining
·  Cognitive/Semantic Computing and Text Analytics
·  Mobile Computing
·  Distributed Cloud and Internet of Things (IOT) systems for cognitive workloads
Candidates are expected to have a proven publication record as evidenced by papers in high-quality conferences and journals, and to demonstrate significant technical leadership. Experience in the implementation of practical systems, data analysis and empirical analysis would be an advantage. Multi-disciplinary candidates are also welcome to apply.
