Job description

Technical Specialists in this job role will have expertise in one or more z/OS related storage system technology areas.

Examples include: disk, tape, optical, SAN, NAS, or storage software related to these technologies. Typical examples of the deliverables are building proof-of-concept solutions with storage system technology and designing storage solutions to address client requirements.

Technical Specialists in this job role work with products or solutions based on z/OS. Technical Specialists who apply their technical skills to support the operation and maintenance of vendor products, services, and solutions.

Individuals who are part of Support typically have responsibility for sizing, troubleshooting, and managing critical customer situations. Additionally they have to do volume management, backup and restore, DR exercises, analysis and troubleshooting, data or infra migration projects and also support the work of z/OS, DB/DC, IMS/CICS, operations teams, etc. activities.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

Mainframe z/OS Systems Programmer skills
Solid knowledge of mainframe z/OS operating systems ( 1.11 - 2.1); JES2, JCL and utilities.
Experience using TSO, ISPF & SDSF
Working knowledge REXX and CLISTs.
Experience and understanding of OMVS environment.
Knowledge of and experience in Z/OS Storage management (Tape Library, DASD, etc.)
