Job description
IBM Research at Albany Nanotech is currently seeking semiconductor research and development engineers for heterogeneous integration and advanced packaging technologies. The heterogeneous integration and advanced packaging elements developed will be used in IBM's strategic core of cognitive and artificial intelligence hardware solutions and systems. Desired areas of expertise in this space include complex process integration, advanced process modeling, novel device and process design and fabrication, new materials development, and physical/electrical characterization of materials. The ability to work effectively in a multi-functional matrix team is an essential part of the job. Teams include process integration, patterning, equipment, metrology, operations, and design/layout. We expect candidates to be self-motivated, passionate, and exhibit a high-level of interest in understanding and solving complex material and process challenges. The ability and willingness to adapt to changing technologies in an agile approach and to embrace challenges is important in this position. Additionally, candidates should have very good communication and presentation skills. Generation of Intellectual Property for IBM and protection of it through the patenting process are also expected.
The mission of the IBM Research Semiconductor Group in Albany is leadership and collaboration in semiconductor technology for high-performance computing systems for the cloud and cognitive era, especially in delivering hardware solutions optimized for high-end servers and artificial intelligence systems. We develop differentiating, leading-edge technology in a 300mm semiconductor fabrication facility with over 100k sq. ft of clean room space in Albany NY. This technology is commercialized through development and manufacturing partnerships.
