This role is performed by technical professionals who specialize in providing perform services to clients on hardware and software components. Activities include operation and maintenance of operating systems across multiple platforms, middleware applications, various database technologies, high availability solutions and load balancing. Job responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to, the following: operation and maintenance of operating systems and platform support, database administration, capacity planning, performance management, security compliance. Support is also provided for systems management tools which monitor the operational status of the environment. The employee guides functional objectives or technologies.

- Create and maintain a hardware diagram of the system.
- Verify that peripherals are installed correctly and tested.
- Monitor performance of hardware components.
- Arrange for repair in event of hardware failure.
- Install & configure the HP-UX OS.
- Create file systems. Manage the integrity of file systems.
- Monitor system resource usage.
- Design and implement backup and recovery routines.
- Configure and maintain printer spooler software.
- Install and maintain network communication software.
- Update the HP-UX OS for new releases.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
2+ years of experience working with AIX.
Understanding of backup process, system monitoring, performance tuning, disaster recovery, and scripting for AIX / VIO.
Effective written and verbal communication skills (English required)
Experience in a large enterprise environment with thousands of servers.
Experience with Enterprise level Change/Incident/Problem Management
Must have knowledge of IBM P6/P7/P8
Experience with IBM VIOs.
Experience with managing AIX patches and iFixes
Experience with building and configuring PowerHA SystemMirror version 7.
