Monitor all cost in the Materials Department and initiates and maintains measures to control these.
Contributes to all forecasting and business planned activities by providing historical information and cost projections.
Ensures that all hotel, company and local rules, policies and regulations relating to financial record keeping, money handling and licensing are adhered to, including the timely and accurate reporting of financial information.
Thorough understanding of the SCALA system (Materials Management System).
Ensures that all company policies, procedures and minimum standards are adhered to in the Materials Department.
Reviews the stock inventory level randomly, compares with the par stocks, ensures all inventory stocks are kept at reasonable level.
Conduct interviews with suppliers, representatives and obtains information, specifications and quotations on any item required.
Handles all correspondence, negotiation and procurement to the best advantage of the hotel.
Ensures the security and maintenance of a clean and organised receiving area, including the Materials Office, receiving dock, and store areas.
Recruit and select Materials employees when required. To follow hotel guidelines when recruiting and use a competency-based approach to selecting employees.
Oversees the punctuality and appearance of all Materials employees, making sure that they wear the correct uniform and maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene, according to the hotel and department's grooming standards.
Conduct annual performance review with Materials employees, supports them in their professional development goals.
Holds a degree/diploma in Materials/Supply Management and/or Finance or Accounting.

Excellent Customer/Supplier Relation Skills.
Comprehensive knowledge of business needs financial reporting and productivity requirements.
Computer Skills, particularly in the use of MS Office, email, Scala or other Materials management systems.
Willing to work long and irregular hours, frequently unsocial hours and public holidays
Minimum two to four years work experience as Materials Manager or Assistant Materials Manager in a hotel or in a similar large supply firm.
Preferable prerequisite is experience in the Hospitality or Traveling industry.
