Unix/System Administrator/IT Infrastructure Delivery

Job description

Work Experience:
· Overall 1 to 4 years of Unix System Administration Experience
· Unix OS Certification will be an added advantage.

Technical Skills:
· Adequate knowledge of Unix/Linux Platform, and strong fundamentals
· Experience in automated OS installation and associated tools like netboot/jumpstart etc
· Experience Storage, Networking, Backup tools
· Good knowledge of layered products like LVM/VxVM/VCS will be added advantage
· Understanding of Network OSI Model, TCP/IP and Routing
· Unix Shell Scripting

Duties & Responsibilities:
· Providing coverage for OS Provisioning activities.
· Flexible to project requirements, able to support in 24 x 7 Environment.
· Performing assigned tasks in accordance with established working practices.
· Abiding by standards and procedures applicable to your project.
· Adhere to IT Security Guidelines/Policies
· Office Reporting / Leaving time discipline as per project requirement
· Recognizing and reporting job related issues to management.
· Analyzing technical issues and providing solutions with effective use of existing techniques and/or tools.
· Liaising with relevant support teams
· Ensure relevant parties are informed about progress status and issues, if any, which might affect deliverables.
· Compliance to IT Security Guidelines/Policies
· Participate in team building activities. No internal conflicts, no escalation from other team members.
· Adhere to GLT policies and procedures.
· Office Reporting / Leaving time discipline as per project requirement
· Timely submission of clarity timesheet
· Leaves to planned well in advance and to be applied in time
· Proactive approach in self development of technical skills

HSBC Global Technology Center in Pune was established in April 2002. This is the first such dedicated IT centre for the Group and is recognition of the India's rich engineering talent pool and re-affirmation of HSBC's commitment to India.
The Indian IT industry is recognized worldwide for its talent, pioneering software
engineering processes and considered to be the destination for offshore software development. 400 of the Fortune 500 companies. The total turnover of the Indian Software Industry is in excess of USD 20 Billion.

Major MNCs have established their IT centres in India and compete for the talent pool with Local IT Majors.
The jobholder may be required to lead a relatively small team of software professionals at various levels- software engineers and
trainee software engineers. The project team would be supported by
· Software Engineering Process Group (SEPG) for guidance and suggestions on the software engineering practices and processes as defined in optimus.
· Business solutions team on the banking and financial services domain knowledge
· Human resources function for staffing, performance management, compensation, training and employee relations
Jobholder is responsible to perform various assignments on different parts of project. Needs to understand and amend complex systems. Should have good technical understanding and problem solving skills. The jobholder may have to work under pressure while coping with project deadlines, work extended hours and adhere to client or project specific quality and documentation standards as part of project execution.
