Job description

The RBWM UK Global Standards Safeguard Risk Officer role is based within Retail Banking and Wealth Management (RBWM) the Safeguard Department is Edinburgh.

The role of the Safeguard Risk Officer is to provide high quality support and decision making skills across a range of Global Standards (GS) and Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) related activities, including: the risk mitigation for the completion of Enhanced Due Diligence, Sanctions, management of High Risk accounts etc. Takes ownership and shows initiative to manage cases including full review of areas missing KYC (Know Your Customer), EDD checks and ID/VA remediation.
Ensure a smooth customer journey by putting the customer first, ensuring high quality service at first point of contact. Responsible for managing cases efficiently whilst maintaining quality and compliance checks.

Your responsibilities will include:
· Acting as the subject matter expert within your specific area and ensuring that internal and external regulatory requirements are met by following all Safeguard Team procedures.
· Apply an excellent standard of compliance to policy and guidance whilst ensuring a customer and commercial focus is maintained and Client Selection and Exit Mechanism (CSEM) utilised for any required exists.
· Protecting the reputation of the Group by taking reasonable steps and exercise due diligence to deter the use of the Group's services by money launderers and those involved in criminal activities.
· Own and resolve issues, through judgement and ownership, by case managing end to end and ensuring all cases are robustly assessed.
· Ensuring the fair treatment of our customers is at the heart of everything we do.
· Pro-actively seek to maintain and develop technical expertise in line with Quality check findings, ensuring regulatory and procedural requirements are fully adhered to.

Qualifications :

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

·  A strong understanding of RBWM Global Standards - Safeguard
·  Availability to work the shift pattern required for this role, i.e. This role will have a static compressed working pattern, which may include a Saturday working- actual working pattern still TBD.
·  Applications from Key Time members of staff can also be considered.
·  Availability to undertake the travel required for this role, i.e. n/a
·  Experience working in relevant environment/s, i.e. Global Standards, Risk, Branch Network or Contact Centres is desirable but not essential
·  A track record of gaining an understanding of customers' needs and delivering excellent customer service
·  Impeccable attention to detail, particularly when under pressure to meet deadlines, combined with a strong delivery focus.
·  A flexible and adaptable approach to change and will support others to respond in a similar way
·  Achieved targets and met expectations whilst supporting and encouraging others to do the same
·  Both spoken and written communication skills with experience of adapting your style and approach to the audience and message to be delivered
·  Experience of making prompt and practical business decision, even in times of ambiguity, considering various perspectives and taking responsibility for outcomes
·  A comprehensive understanding of risk management and proven experience of ensuring own/others' compliance with relevant regulatory processes
