We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Regulatory Compliance Manager.
The Regulatory Compliance Manager, HSBC Amanah Malaysia Berhad (HBMS) is responsible for supporting the Head of Regulatory Compliance in the oversight of Regulatory Compliance risk for HBMS, ensuring that HBMS’ operations are effective in identifying, managing and mitigating Regulatory Compliance risks and that timely advice is provided to HBMS.
The responsibilities of the Regulatory Compliance Manager, HBMS are:
· Fostering a positive culture of compliance by working proactively with HBMS and other Regulatory Compliance professionals to ensure that best practices are followed in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations and internal policy.
· Assist the Head of Regulatory Compliance Malaysia with articulating the Regulatory Compliance risks for HBMS.
· Provide Regulatory Compliance support, advice and guidance to HBMS to ensure clear understanding of compliance risk exposure with respect to clients, transactions, products and initiatives.
· Support the Head of Regulatory Compliance Malaysia with managing the relationship with relevant regulators on behalf of HBMS.
· Assist the Head of Regulatory Compliance Malaysia with identifying and assessing impact of regulatory developments affecting HBMS.
· Assist the Head of Regulatory Compliance Malaysia with responsibility for second line governance of Regulatory Compliance risk exposures, providing analysis, reporting and governance to HBMS RMM and the HBMS Board of Directors that is independent of the first line of defence, thereby maintaining an objective assessment of risk exposure.
· Assist the Head of Regulatory Compliance Malaysia with exercising risk steward challenge, acting as independent trusted advisory in governance forums, issue management, fostering a compliance culture and optimizing relations with risk owners and control owners.
· Responsible for implementation of and advising on Regulatory Compliance programmes and policies in HBMS.
· Perform the secretariat function for the HSBC Malaysia Compliance Risk Oversight Committee.
Impact on the Business
· Support Head of Regulatory Compliance Malaysia in overseeing the critical Regulatory Compliance/ Group Compliance policies and systems that impact HBMS and ensure that the Group’s exposure to Regulatory Compliance risks is managed in a commercially sensitive, practical and cost effective manner.
· Provide advice and support on Regulatory Compliance risks to HBMS.
· Provide support to the Head of Regulatory Compliance Malaysia in implementing programmes to quantify impacts and implement actions to address, manage and mitigate impacts of regulatory changes on HBMS.
· Support in establishing and implementing global standards and strategic policies which ensure HBMS’ exposure to current and emerging risks is managed appropriately, in a commercially focused and practical manner.
· Ensure that there are "no surprises" in relation to HBMS dealings with Regulators, regulatory developments affecting HSBC or in the development, maintenance and roll out of Regulatory Compliance Policy.
Requirements
Experience
· Some risk, compliance or regulatory experience across business lines or functions, Islamic banking or with experience in HSBC predominant business lines or functions.
· Some experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders, including business/ Global Functions senior management and regulators.
· Some experience of HSBC Group structure, its business and personnel and a strong understanding of HSBC’s corporate culture.
Expertise
Strong understanding of:
· Regulators and their agenda / approach.
· Regulations as applicable to the bank.
· HSBC organisation and governance structures;
· Design and coordination of processes; and
· Stakeholder management.
Skills
· Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to project authority, negotiate effectively and influence others.
· Strong time and project management skills, including the ability to handle multiple outputs simultaneously.
· Ability to work in a fast-moving, high-pressure environment.
· Strong analytical skills.
· Good commercial acumen.
· Ability to distil complex regulatory requirements and communicate them effectively to stakeholders.
Qualifications
Typically, qualifications would include an undergraduate or post-graduate degree in Business Administration, Finance or a related field, or a legal or accou;nting professional qualification.
