Role Title: GBM CDO Data Analyst

Role Purpose

· The GBM CDO function was initially established in July 2013 as part of an HSBC wide program to improve the management of data across the organization. As a part of the continued evolution of the function, this role has been created to ensure that as we execute strategic, we ensure that we are fully engaged with the respective Product Lines across GBM, that we fully understand the key data problems they need solved, and that as we solve them, we fully embed the benefits and changes required to ensure we deploy sustainable, strategic, and demonstrable change within the business.
· Data Analyst is a trained data professional who performs data analysis, data sampling and mathematical calculations against data to determine how the data might best be applied to support GBM business needs. The Data Analyst possesses specialist knowledge in one or more of business data domains in addition to being familiar with all other data domains involved in GBM. The Data Analyst will understand how GBM functions use data and the implications of errors or deviations in the data. They will have experience and knowledge of data modelling techniques.The core responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

· Define and document new business and data requirements / Models
· Provide and assist with the management of adherence to scope and requirements (functional and non functional) to ensure the projects remain on track.
· Document Target, Business Operating and Service models
· Working with Project Management to help manage the dependencies analysis, risk identification and identify mitigation options
· Manage the adherence to scope and requirements (functional and non functional) to ensure the projects remain on track.
· Ensure there is a clear mapping of change by capturing the future state models and highlighting changes to the current processes so that they are both transparent and effectively transferred into a set of core operating procedures
· Manage an ongoing gap analysis and resolution of gaps with process driven solutions
· Draft SLA's and continuity/DR modelling
· Define test conditions and success criteria to ensure that systems testing requirements are provided to IT in advance of system testing and oversee SIT to ensure that test cases are reported and issues raised within this cycle prior to the business UAT. Where necessary, define, participate and undertake testing, defect analysis and issue resolution during QA and UAT testing cycles
· Ensure there is a clear strategy and ownership remains with the data sponsors identified when agreeing changes.

Major Challenges

· Key characteristics of this role will be the ability to work closely with a demanding & diverse set of stakeholders, leverage the component parts of the broader CDO team, and with the GBM business to ensure the right prioritised problems are understood, that the right solutions are developed, and that the program roadmaps reflect the work required to deploy those solutions.
· This is a strategic engagement and coordination role, with a strong need to influence the shape and priority of execution across data remit, and a requirement to communicate openly and strategically with the business so that stakeholders have confidence in the work required.

Observation of Internal Controls

· The jobholder will adhere to, and be able to demonstrate adherence to, internal controls and will implement the Group compliance policy by adhering to all relevant processes/procedures.
· The term ‘compliance' embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply. This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators.

Desired profile

Qualifications :

· Investment Banking experience (ideally with strong knowledge of the Product Lines – not mandatory)

· Ability to synthesize through excellent written and oral communications skills

· Logical and practical – ability to see the wood through the trees and act on it

· Strong relationship management capability – managing multiple personas across multiple businesses across multiple regions

· 10 or more years Operations and / or Data work experience in data management

· Strong ‘machine' skills – designing tight / autonomous processes end to end

· Team first mentality

· Unquestionable personal integrity
