Our technology teams in the UK work closely with HSBC's global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world's leading international bank.
Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.
We work in small, agile DevOps teams with colleagues around the world from our offices at the Bluefin Building in Southwark, our global headquarters in Canary Wharf, and multiple other locations around the UK including Sheffield, Leeds, Barnsley and Birmingham.
Following extensive investment across our Technology and Digital domains and with plans for continued expansion throughout 2019 and beyond, we are currently seeking a number of experienced Full Stack Engineers to join HSBC Technology.
Equities Technology is a global department with teams in London, Paris, New York, Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Pune – supporting businesses covering Cash and Electronic Trading, Delta One and Flow Trading, Equity Derivatives, Prime Finance and Futures. The organization is rapidly transforming both its people structure and ways of working to better align with our business and increase the speed and quality of delivery. We are adopting a DevOps model driving agile delivery and building a strong product ownership group.
What you will be doing;
The Prime Finance Synthetic IT Team requires an experienced Engineer to work within this highly pressurised environment. The candidate should demonstrate a good knowledge of the Prime Finance business and an appreciation of the product lifecycle within the context of technology systems.
Perform Triage in London for the Global Prime Finance business, liaising with key business stake holders and attending on-site meetings with the business on project deliverables
Play a lead role in moving the technology stack from vendor to micro services
The team is part of a larger Global team, based in the UK, HK, China and India.
Co-Ordinate and Manage several small deliveries front to back in Prime Finance (Synthetics / Reporting)
Creation of technical specifications where applicable
Assisting in designing and overseeing execution of the test plans
Working with the business to facilitate new developments
Progress and status reporting to immediate management for owned work streams
What you will bring to the role;
To be successful in this role you should have proven experience within the Technology sector with knowledge of the following skills:
Prior experience in Trade floor interaction with Front Office Business
In depth Business knowledge of Prime Brokerage and Equity Finance especially in Securities Based Lending and Equity Swaps
· Strong experience of working with UNIX based applications
· Knowledge on Geneos ITRS monitoring
Strong SQL knowledge- Oracle, Microsoft SQL - ability to develop scripts
Experience in working within a DevOps context and being able to switch between Development and Support
· Issue tracking and prioritisation
· Release management
· Incident management
· Capacity management
· Problem analysis and resolution
· Experience with Java
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate confidently and clearly with internal teams
Ability to deliver to deadlines in a environment where multiple competing requirements are a part of the job
Proactivity and a strong ownership ethos, ensuring that queries are resolved through to completion
Flexibility and enthusiasm for picking up new areas as the role requires
Ability to analyse complex scenarios from both a technical and business perspective, and deliver solutions
These roles will primarily be London site based at our Head Office in Canary Wharf
