Role Purpose

· The Corporate Publishing team needs an Editor who will be able to produce and shape a diverse range of content for corporate websites such as HSBC.com and a variety of external publishing requirements. Experience of website production and imagery, writing and editing long and short-form copy in a digital format required. The Editor will report to the Global Head of Corporate Publishing, and will need to work closely with the Head of Website Production, the Chief Writer, and other members of the corporate publishing team.

· Meet and exceed expectations for the quality of content, images and layout, so that internal stakeholders and external audiences are informed and engaged
· Work with a wide variety of internal teams and also external parties who may be involved in the production of written, photographic or video content

Leadership & Teamwork

· Work closely with colleagues in London and overseas to ensure content is produced to consistently high editorial standards which comply with Compliance, copyright, Legal and reputational rules and guidelines

· Help shape corporate publishing strategy, approach and guidelines

· Support colleagues by being adaptable and happy to take on fresh challenges. Able to adapt to the changing requirements of a role in a fast-moving digital environment

Operational Effectiveness & Control

· Maintain consistency and quality across all production processes

· Capacity to develop broad knowledge of economic, business, financial and investor issues as well as HSBC's strategy and global and local initiatives

· Able to spot and solve potential compliance and reputational issues before publication

Major Challenges

· The implications of getting something wrong or misjudging publishing requirements can be extremely costly – to our reputation and in financial terms

· Numerous stakeholders can result in a time-consuming approvals process that requires patience and flexibility

· The wide-ranging nature of the role means it can be tricky to balance local sensitivities with global messaging

Role Context

· The role holder will be based in London

· They will need to be able to work flexible hours depending on calendar events and publishing requirements

· They will have authority to act alone and take responsibilities for their dealings with internal and external teams

· The role holder will be aware of their legal and regulatory obligations regarding the management and non-disclosure of price sensitive and other confidential information

Role Dimensions

· The role holder has responsibilities and judgemental authority with significant potential to impact HSBC's reputation and / or market valuation beyond the scope of many traditional financial limits or metrics.

Management of Risk

· The role holder will continually reassess the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology.

· This will be achieved by ensuring all actions take account of the likelihood of operational risk occurring.

· Also by addressing any areas of concern in conjunction with line management and/or the appropriate department.

Observation of Internal Controls

· The role holder will also adhere to and be able to demonstrate adherence to internal controls. This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators.

· The jobholder will implement the Group compliance policy by containing compliance risk in liaison with Global Head of Compliance, Global Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer. The term ‘compliance' embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply.

· This will be achieved by adhering to all relevant processes/procedures and by liaising with Compliance department about new business initiatives at the earliest opportunity. Also and when applicable, by ensuring adequate resources are in place and training is provided, fostering a compliance culture and optimising relations with regulators.

Desired profile

Qualifications :

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications

·  Proven writing, editing and production skills. Strong eye for design, photos and layout

· Knowledge of journalistic principles

· Experience of working in the media sector

· Very strong organisational and time-management skills

·  Experience of juggling multiple priorities and demanding requirements from different stakeholders
·  Sensitive to navigating the complexities of producing quality editorial within a corporate environment
