Big Data Security SME

The Big Data Security SME role is based within Data Security team within the Bank's Global IT Security function.

The role of the Big Data Security SME is to define, implement and maintain Security Controls for Big Data technologies and be responsible for driving risk reduction through remediation and the introduction of best practice controls.

Your responsibilities will include :
· Project consulting and providing guidance on solutions and security architecture for line of business.
· Ensuring on-going security compliance of all big data related technologies and manage risks and future threats.
· Assisting in delivering vision for Data security.
· Defining, implementing and maintaining Security Controls across relevant big data technologies.
· Defining and implementing security controls across all Big Data related platforms
· Defining best practices for security monitoring, using tools where applicable.
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
·  Relevant product knowledge including knowledge of variety of big data related technologies, vulnerabilities and risk management.
·  Experience working in relevant environment/s, i.e. Past working experience in IT Security, specifically Data Security principles and controls.
·  Experience working in relevant market/context, i.e. working with other business teams globally to help deploy and operate new security technology and communicate security risks within the bank.
·  Experience of using relevant software packages, i.e. Knowledge of Big Data technologies
·  Relevant product knowledge including knowledge of Past working experience on relevant Big Data related technologies desirable but not essential.
·  Role relevant qualifications, i.e. minimum of Bachelor's degree preferably in an Information Security related discipline is desirable but not essential.
·  CISSP or any relevant Security Certification would be considered an asset is desirable but not essential.
·  Past working experience on relevant systems i.e. Hadoop etc. is desirable but not essential
·  A track record of constantly looking for ways to do things better and an excellent understanding of the mechanism necessary to successfully implement change.
·  Excellent written and spoken communication skills with experience of successfully influencing others, negotiating effectively and winning over audiences with compelling and persuasive presentations.
·  A track record of making complex business decisions with authority, even in times of ambiguity, considering the potential long term risks and implications.
·  Planned projects and activities systematically in line with business priorities, using a variety of analysis and problem solving techniques.
·  Proven experience of successful project management, utilising relevant tools and techniques to ensure consistent delivery.
·  A comprehensive understanding of risk management and proven experience of ensuring own/others' compliance with relevant regulatory processes.

The base location for this role is Park Street, London or Sheffield.
