Role Purpose
The HAIL private markets team manages $9.7bn of capital invested across various Private Markets funds. It is one of the largest private market fund investors outside of the US. The role is to work with the HAIL Private Markets team and:
Key Accountabilities
Impact on Business

Assist in the monitoring of the existing portfolio of investments, which includes having calls with managers and assisting in the writing of investment monitoring reports
·
To assist in the diligence of investment opportunities across a variety of different private market funds, ranging from buyout funds, growth capital funds, infrastructure funds, real estate funds and private credit funds
·
To assist the team in the day to day activities of running a large fund investment program me, including maintaining origination databases, workflow databases and other tasks
·
Responding to inbound requests from clients and assisting with their reporting and understanding of existing investments
·
Helping the team manage its various governance forums – team investment and oversight committees
·
Maintaining and updating key investment databases
·
Screening primary, secondary and co-investment opportunities for the HAIL Private Equity team.
·
Investments will be made via the discretionary institutional capital of HAIL or via the HSBC Private Bank feeder programme;
·
Reviewing such opportunities to assess the overall risk/reward profile of the opportunity - upside potential versus risk of loss of capital;
·
Producing a rapid evaluation based on the above and presenting the overall investment thesis to the HAIL Investment Committee;

Monitoring the progress of investments made and playing a key role in ensuring the teams overall monitoring programme is fulfilled

The client base of HAIL Private Equity, namely the discretionary and private bank feeder programme.

Operational Effectiveness & Control
Responsibility for Private Equity due diligence. This comprises effective full due diligence for new funds both from an investment and operational perspective
Management of Risk
Candidates will be aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with the role and acts in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations.
Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
Understand, follow and demonstrate compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which you are involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.

Qualifications:
· 1-2 years financial industry experience
· Strong commercial acumen resulting in sound risk/reward judgments;
· Strong presentation skills with ability to convince without hard-selling;
