Our Victorian (Corporate Banking) team supports companies with turnover of A$50m through to A$750m and serves public, private and financial sponsor backed companies. The team you may join has delivered outstanding and sustained results, with a key focus of Relationship Banking. 

As an Associate, you will partner with Directors and Global Relationship Managers tasked with deepening relationships with clients, who are all internationally minded. You will help to drive account management strategies targeted at delivering outstanding client service, executing transactions for existing and new clients, effecting global product mandates, and maintaining responsibility for day-to-day portfolio activities, including annual reviews and increased lending opportunities.  

You will bring technical expertise in financial analysis and financial modelling, to assist you will be heavily involved in execution of transactions, proactively identifying opportunities, and assisting in portfolio management. The Associate role is seen as a key developmental role on your pathway to becoming a strong relationship banker. This will lead to opening exceptional career opportunities locally and internationally.    

Your main responsibilities will include: 

·  Engaging with multiple touchpoints within both existing and new clients to build and maintain strong relationships, identify needs, and position the Bank’s solutions accordingly.
·  Developing and maintaining an understanding of our clients’ industries and associated markets, including both local and global dynamics.
·  Undertaking credit evaluation (new submissions, annual reviews), including analysis of complex financial information and timely and accurate preparation of high-quality credit applications for general corporate and structured lending scenarios.
·  Ensuring strong adherence to credit policies (including ongoing monitoring of clients), financial crime and regulatory compliance.
·  Providing support with instruction, negotiation and execution of client facility documentation requirements, working with internal and external legal counsel as required.
·  Taking responsibility for day-to-day portfolio requirements, including dealing with client queries and liaison with internal product, administrative support and offshore teams to deliver high customer service levels to our clients.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will bring: 

·  Experience in a corporate / institutional finance setting (including corporate/institutional bank, credit fund, ratings agency, major accountancy firm, or investment bank).
·  Capability in writing comprehensive yet concise credit papers is desirable and / or proven strength in financial modelling and sensitivity analysis. Non-banking applicants must be able to demonstrate an ability to articulate high levels of information synthesis into professional, internal and / or external documents (such as pitch books, investment committee papers, board papers or other related finance-based documents).
·  Familiarity with APLMA and bank loan documentation and Australian security structures is desirable.
·  Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate and build relationships with people at all levels including clients, peers, product specialists, industry specialists and credit risk specialists.
·  An open mindset with high levels of self-motivation, commitment, ability to manage competing priorities and a desire to succeed.
·  A natural focus on providing superior customer service with a genuine desire to consistently meet and exceed customer expectations.
·  A degree in Finance, Business, Accountancy, Law or related disciplines - related post graduate qualifications such as Master of Finance, CFA, CPA, CA or similar will be highly regarded.

Preference will be given to candidates who hold Australian or New Zealand PR/Citizenship, or who can show they currently have unrestricted work rights in Australia without limitations.
