Agile BA and Solution Architect

Our technology teams in the UK work closely with HSBC's global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world's leading international bank.

Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.

We work in small, agile DevOps teams with colleagues around the world from our offices at the Bluefin Building in Southwark, our global headquarters in Canary Wharf, and multiple other locations around the UK including Sheffield, Leeds, Barnsley and Birmingham.

Following extensive investment across our Technology and Digital domains and with plans for continued expansion throughout 2019 and beyond, we are currently seeking a number of experienced Agile BA and Solution Architect to join HSBC Technology.

Brief overview of the business areas

What you will be doing;

The successful candidate will be asked to work within the UK Finance IT department as an Agile Business Analyst & Solutions Architect.

This team is responsible for reviewing and improving the efficiency, effectiveness and control of Global Banking & Markets Finance function by developing robust systems solutions. The candidate will participate initially in challenging PRA Regulatory Solvent Wind down (SWD) programme, helping to define scope and direction with regards to solutions.


The Technology Solution Architecture job is accountable to work with the Portfolio and Platform Architects, Technical Lead & Engineers to define the detailed solution design.

This role will carry out some or all of the following activities:

· Accountable for ensuring the products & services are supported by the right architectures and solutions meet the customer needs
· Responsible for ensuring solutions are aligned with the platform architecture and roadmap, group standards and policies.
· Develop relationships with Front Office and Back Office system teams
· Communicate and work with systems on business solutions.
Significant and regular liaison with business users.

Assessing impact of proposed business changes and impact on Finance IT architecture.

Initially focused on PRA Regulatory Solvent Wind down (SWD) Programme; with potential opportunity further down the line to work across multiple asset classes and projects

· Broad but detailed knowledge across all major Global Markets products from a trade attribute and life-cycle event perspective and covering accounting and regulatory requirements.
· Experience of working on financial control projects, i.e. Sub-ledgers/General Ledgers, Accounting Rules set-up
· Knowledge of trade flow from trade inception through to settlement through the various bank departments and applications.
· Experience of key Global Market's Applications and principals behind target strategic architecture
Must have at least 10-15 years' experience in the financial services sector of which the last 3 years was in carrying out a Solutions Architect role in an investment bank.

Ability to not only carry out current state analysis but also to move on to production of functional design of new solutions.

Able to work with business clients in terms of gathering requirements, walking them through possible solution designs, investigation of issues

Ability to research information and analyse data to arrive at valid conclusions, recommendations and courses of action

·  Proven strategic thinker and decision maker
Proven experience in solutions analysis environment with specialisation in business analysis

Ability to work in fast-paced environment with proven ability to handle multiple projects at one time

An excellent level of analysis experience and knowledge of structured techniques and Group standards

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to pay attention to detail in a rapid busy paced environment

Self-motivated, enthusiastic and ability to learn with minimal supervision under pressure.
