Fixed Income and BSM (Balance Sheet Management) IT at HSBC is a global asset class covering Front to Back IT services for 4 main business lines: BSM , Rates, Credit & Emerging Markets. It is a global team of over 400 people with a strong presence in London, Hong Kong, New York, Paris, Toronto, Guangzhou, Pune and Bangalore.

The team is responsible for:

- Pre trade systems allowing orders, market data streaming, market negotiations, algo trading, live risk

- A suite of primary trading systems, which support the trading and risk management capabilities of the desks, as well as all upstream & downstream connectivity and data feeds for all business functions

- The generation of the p&l and risk numbers for the Fixed Income and BSM business

- Tools which allow display/enrichment of data produced by relevant systems

Purpose of the job:

Working within the HTS Fixed Income and BSM IT team, the candidate will be in charge of work items requiring

1) Develop the core product as a part of an international team.

2) Support the application in production.

3) Assist with the demise of legacy tools that Skyfall will replace

4) Build and maintain the global infrastructure environment as a part of a small team

5) Document good practices and process

Major Challenges:

· HSBC is a very large and distributed organization where it is important to learn to navigate hurdles and acquire some autonomy

· Delivering projects strategically can be difficult in an environment used to tactical delivery but this must be achieved

· Compliance with HSBC Group standards, whilst accommodating specific project requirements. There are a large number of procedures and policies which require adherence or appropriate challenge

ESSENTIAL SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

· Strong Programming Experience in Scala and Java 8.

· Good Exposure in ReactJs Framework and Javascript.

· Strong in UNIX scripting

· Cloud aware

· Good to have experience in MongoDB.

· Strong understanding of risk and P&L in any asset class

· Seeks solutions and is creative with it. Confronts blocking issues

· Engineering capabilities to value/improve/challenge any technical solution

· Functional knowledge of Fixed income and BSM products

· Good inter-personal skills, well organised and with and ability to multi-task / switch context easily
