VLSI Design Verification Co-op

Job Description:

At HPE, we bring together the brightest minds to create breakthrough technology solutions and advance the way people live and work. Our legacy inspires us as we forge ahead dedicated to helping our customers make their mark on the world.

Learning does not only happen through training. Relationships are among the most powerful ways for people to learn and grow, and this is part of our HPE culture. In addition to working alongside talented colleagues, you will have many opportunities to learn through coaching and stretch assignment opportunities. You’ll be guided by feedback and support to accelerate your learning and maximize your knowledge. We also have a “reverse mentoring” program which allows us to share our knowledge and strengths across our multi-generation workforce.

HPE Labs are committed to the fast and seamless transfer of advanced technologies into next generation products and solutions; enabling the delivery of advanced Hybrid IT and IoT solutions for our customers

At Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), we invent new technologies, change markets, and create business opportunities.  We help plan and broaden the company strategy and deliver the science and technology that gives HPE leadership in the industry.  As members of the Silicon Design Lab (SDL), we design chips for many exciting projects ranging from mission-critical servers to HPE’s “The Machine”. Join us as we enable tomorrow’s technologies such as photonics, memristor, memory-centric computing, and next generation computers.

HPE is seeking Co-ops to work in our ASIC and VLSI Labs around VLSI Design Verification.  Positions are in Plano, TX, Houston, TX, and Fort Collins, CO.  We are currently recruiting summer interns and Spring-Summer Co-ops who will work two consecutive semesters.  Spring-Summer co-ops usually start work in January and continue through August, depending on school schedules. The VLSI Design Verification team is an integral part of computer hardware development within SDL. The verification team is responsible for ensuring that new product designs are free from functional defects prior to fabrication. The team consists of hardware and software engineers with an in-depth knowledge of logic design, computer architecture, systems design, and software development practices; team members have a desire to create leading design verification methodologies.  They build object-oriented models of the system architecture as a reference to check the logic or functional design in simulation.  After a design is fabricated, the verification team also builds a test operating system to test and stress the actual chips to potentially identify post-silicon defects.

Roles/Responsibilities:

·  Co-ops participate on projects related to delivering HPE's next- generation high performance server products.
·  Under the guidance of a mentor, the candidate will use their knowledge and creativity to complete assignments within the existing team targeted at designing, debugging, and qualifying hardware; a great chance to gain industry experience.

Education/Experience:

·  Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
·  Must have completed the second year of engineering studies, although the completion of third year is preferred.
·  Coursework in EE fundamentals, digital logic, computer architecture, software engineering, and/or data structures
·  Coursework in C or C++ (or equivalent language), and Object Oriented Design (in a UNIX environment preferred)
·  Enrolled in college formal co-op program receiving University credit for work experience is preferred.
·  Ability to work co-op program/internship at HPE full time January-August is preferred.
·  Fluency in English along with strong verbal and written communication skills
·  Commitment, self-motivation, and the ability to work in a team oriented environment is essential
·  Enjoy learning and working on hardware

We offer:

• A competitive salary and extensive social benefits

• Diverse and dynamic work environment

• Work-life balance and support for career development

• An amazing life inside the element!
