UX Design Intern

Job Description:

At HPE, we bring together the brightest minds to create breakthrough technology solutions and advance the way people live and work. Our legacy inspires us as we forge ahead dedicated to helping our customers make their mark on the world.

Learning does not only happen through training. Relationships are among the most powerful ways for people to learn and grow, and this is part of our HPE culture. In addition to working alongside talented colleagues, you will have many opportunities to learn through coaching and stretch assignment opportunities. You’ll be guided by feedback and support to accelerate your learning and maximize your knowledge. We also have a “reverse mentoring” program which allows us to share our knowledge and strengths across our multi-generation workforce.

As part of the Software Defined and Cloud Group’s Chief Design Office at Hewlett Packard Enterprise, you will be making our user experience design vision a reality. This entails working across static web and app-based services in the enterprise IT software and marketing spaces.

We are a design driven, agile organization looking for a person capable of creating, collaborating, and communicating designs with stakeholders and developers to implement and execute on a product’s vision. This person is focused on our customers with the ability to take an idea from concept to prototype. The expectation is that your designs will employ a task-based design ethos with a functional esthetic. While the position does not require expert coding skills, the individual will have the opportunity to learn our UI framework, grommet.io, and come to understand its capabilities and to be an advocate internally and externally.

Responsibilities

·  Learn about our users, our technologies, hardware, organization, how we sell, and the context of how your experiences will be integrated/consumed through the different organizations.
·  Collaborate with teammates, engineering, project stakeholders, and external customers to inform your designs.
·  Craft the story of your ideas and concepts into a message that others can rally behind. Use all means possible to concisely and effectively produce influential deliverable.
·  Rapidly whiteboard, wireframe, mockup, and prototype your ideas—And iterate often.
·  Communicate, present, negotiate and refine your messages to the people you work with to promote and gather adoption of your idea.
·  Deliver and understand how to take your design to code and how it translates when in the hands of users.
·  Iterate. Just because we release, doesn’t mean it’s done.

Knowledge   and Skills

·  Passionate about developing simple, clean, elegant user experiences
·  Demonstrated ability to collaborate with development teams to understand the problem domain and design solutions that meet user needs
·  Champion of user-centered design and user-research methodologies
·  Competency with standard design tools: Sketch, Adobe XD (Experience Designer), Marvel, Invision, Principle, Framer.js, Flinto, After Effects, Origami, and ability to push some pixels and work with vectors.
·  Experience with react.js based UI/UX toolkits is a plus
·  Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
·  Has an interest in understanding data center management and cloud technologies, as well as network and system administration tools.

Education and Experience

·  Must be working towards a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Human Computer Interaction, UX Design, UX Research, Interaction Design, Fine Arts or equivalent.
