About the Senior Software Release Engineer
HPE SimpliVity is currently seeking highly qualified and motivated candidates for a Senior Software Release Engineer position in Westborough, MA or Fort Collins, CO. No relocation assistance available.
As a part of the release engineering team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining Continuous Integration (CI) systems, source control, build services, and deployment pipelines for the HPE SimpliVity R&D organization. You will use cutting-edge technologies to automate release activities in support of Engineering, and will be able to support a complex CI environment; understand and extend the development and staging environments; and continually improve our systems through evaluation, recommendation, and new development. Your primary focus will be to provide the operational support required to build, maintain and release the SimpliVity OmniStack product. You’ll have the opportunity to work on the products we deliver and support while gaining experience as a Senior Software Release Engineer, which can lead to future careers within HPE.

Responsibilities
In this role, you will:

·  participate in architecture, design, and implementation of build and development infrastructure and methodologies
·  assist in management and automation of the build and release process including packaging build artifacts and collateral
·  maintain and extend our development environments and frameworks, integrating them with Supply Chain / SCM, Defect Tracking, and Continuous Integration tools
·  contribute to infrastructure automation efforts using cutting-edge tools like Docker and Puppet
·  develop and deliver training to engineering teams for development processes, build methodologies, and tools
·  provide daily support to engineers across release engineering tools, systems, and processes such as Git, Jenkins, and JIRA
·  perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience Required

·  Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent
·  Advanced degree desired
·  6+ years’ experience developing and maintaining software build and release environments, and / or developing and deploying version control, continuous integration, or defect tracking tools
·  6+ years’ experience developing and maintaining release builds and packaging

Knowledge and Skills Required

·  Proficiency in Python, Perl, or PowerShell (Preferably Python)
·  Experience with virtualization technology (such as VMware or Hyper-V)
·  Experience administrating and integrating development tools
·  Experience with source code management tools (preferably Git and BitBucket)
·  Experience with defect tracking tools (preferably JIRA)
·  Experience with continuous integration tools (preferably Jenkins)
·  Strong experience with Linux

Knowledge and Skills Desired

·  Experience with Configuration Management tools like Puppet, Chef, Ansible or Salt
·  Experience with Linux build and packaging concepts, particularly Debian
·  Experience with build tools such as Gradle, GNU Make, CMake
·  Knowledge of Agile methodologies
·  Experience integrating Open Source tools and software
·  Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio and Windows build environments
·  Experience developing applications that utilize VMware’s virtual infrastructure API
