The AI Research Lab at Hewlett Packard Enterprise is a multi-disciplinary team whose focus is to advance the field of Trustworthy AI, including work on model analysis and synthesis for trust, reinforcement learning, data foundation for AI, AI at the edge, AI for science, and explainable machine learning. You will investigate hardware and software technology for novel machine learning accelerators, focusing on microarchitecture design, combining emerging device technologies (such as ReRAM memory) and digital logic. You must have a proven ability to think across the hardware-software stack and algorithm codesign. The work will target a variety of computing applications, including network security, explainable machine learning, and neuromorphic computing.
You will work in a team environment to design, benchmark, operate, and simulate microarchitecture designs of novel computational paradigms, adapting algorithms tailored to exploit the characteristics of emerging physical hardware platforms, such as hybrid CMOS/ReRAM systems. The work spans a range of activities including: invention of new computational methods designed to take advantage of physical hardware systems for acceleration; design of flexible accelerator microarchitectures hierarchy; the design, fabrication and operation of prototype hardware systems; simulation, emulation and prototyping; operation of existing hardware platforms; and performance comparisons to competing systems using industrially relevant benchmarks.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
PhD candidate or recent graduate or Masters degree with 3+ years equivalent work experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Physics, Computer Engineering, or related areas.
Experience in computer architecture and microarchitecture design
Experience in functional and cycle-detailed simulation and evaluation
Experience in RTL-level hardware design
Experience in FPGA programming
Experience in benchmarking methodologies
Experience with Python and/or Matlab
Experience with ML-focused frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch or ONNX.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills will be required for technical reporting and problem solving.
The candidate needs to be creative and highly motivated to tackle challenging problems in daily research and deliver high quality results.
