Job Description:
Hewlett Packard Enterprise is seeking a highly motivated Storage Software Systems Engineer to join our R&D team for next-generation HPE Primary Storage platforms. We are looking for talented software engineers with strong programming experience and expertise in large systems technology environments. The suitable candidate will be part of a focused, agile team to design and deliver mission-critical enterprise storage infrastructure software along an aggressive technology roadmap. This position offers significant influence on future product system design and exposure to modern software development tools and capabilities.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Develop, manage and communicate strategy, technology roadmaps and relationships internally, with other engineering and business teams, and externally with partners and customers
· Develop software systems architectures and designs, and provide consultation to software and hardware development teams across a broad range of technical areas within storage domain
· Lead and contribute to multiple cross-functional project teams through all phases of software development lifecycles, from inception through post-release activities
· Produce and present a broad range of technical content including proposals, assessments, research reports, proof-of-concept demonstrations, project progress, option negotiation, and quality investigations to executive management
· Lead cross-organizational initiatives using domain-specific expertise and software systems leadership skills
· Represent HPE technical leadership for customers and partners, and at external events such as trade shows, academic engagements and standards conferences
· Promote and drive continuous improvement, innovation and new technology adoption into projects and organizational processes
· Provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members to set an example of software systems design and development innovation and excellence
· Participates in and provides input on process for selection of future technical leaders
Education and Experience Required:
· Bachelor's, Master's or PHD degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent
· Typically 15+ years experience
Knowledge and Skills:
· Experience architecting and designing complex, mission-critical, highly reliable software systems, or similar
· Experience in C/C++ embedded or distributed multi-core Linux systems programming, or similar
· Experience with I/O storage protocols such as NVMe, NVMeoF, PCIe, RDMA, SAS, FC, SATA, iSCSI, NFS, SMB or S3 is highly preferred
· Experience working with large, established code repositories is preferred
· Experience integrating, enhancing and maintaining third-party or open source technologies is preferred
· Experience with Storage Class Memory devices is a plus
· Experience with Software-Defined Storage or cloud micro-service technologies is a plus
· Experience working in cross-functional or geographically distributed software development teams
· Experience working in Agile/Scrum/continuous integration software development environments
· Experience deploying test automation frameworks and quality dashboards is a plus
· Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, especially complex software system issues
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language
· History of innovation through patents, standards contributions, technology leadership publications and/or deployed software systems solutions in the field
· Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
· Ability to adapt to changes in work direction, roadmaps and program priorities
· Ability to effectively present at executive management levels
