About the Data Scientist – Pointnext Data, AI & Emerging Technology Client Services

HPE Pointnext is looking for highly qualified, experienced and motivated candidates to deliver data science capability to UK clients which include a number of companies recognized for world-class innovation who are now seeking to leverage the very latest that AI & Machine Learning have to offer.

You will be responsible for assisting in :

·  Driving the strategy around data science-led solutions
·  Delivering them to HPE’s customers, and
·  Innovating around big data, machine learning, and all forms of artificial intelligence at a global level

You will also help drive that knowledge and capabilities into regional and global AI, Data & Emerging Technology Centre of Excellence teams for delivery with customers and partners.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for scoping, designing, and developing data-led solutions to form part of the Pointnext Data Science portfolios. You will work alongside other specialist groups within HPE to cover the full spectrum of the technical stack. You will also be charged with collaborating with the global AI, Data & Emerging Technology Centre of Excellence to develop specific intellectual property for HPE and Pointnext, including the creation of patentable solutions and unique capabilities within the industry.

Your additional duties will include:

·  Working directly with clients to understand their requirements & collaborate with the client plus HPE teams to deliver world-class Data Science solutions.
·  Liaise and Communicate findings clearly and succinctly to technical and non-technical audience
·  High level Design, development, and deliver machine learning/Deep Learning AI enabled solutions
·  Develop working prototypes of algorithms and evaluate using real-world data sets
·  Identify/develop appropriate machine learning techniques to uncover the value of the data
·  Identify, analyse and interpret trends or pattern in complex data sets, including telemetry from IT infrastructure, application and security components
·  Use advanced machine learning techniques to predict or alert in case of failures, and recommend actions that can mitigate or resolve them including computer vision, reinforced learning, natural language processing etc.
·  Use trends to build ML models that help make predictions and/or recommendations
·  Liaising with pre-sales and customer-centric teams to qualify demand and opportunities for proposed solutions.
·  Building data science-focused solutions in the appropriate technologies to drive the identified outcomes.
·  Ensuring the solution is as modular as possible and can be plugged into other solutions in a value chain, leveraging standards where appropriate.
·  Identifying portfolio gaps and opportunities, and evaluating requirements to fill those gaps together with the global AI, Data & Emerging Technology Centre of Excellence.
·  Reviewing existing solutions, and identifying opportunities for improvements and incremental value-add.

Knowledge and Skills Required

·  Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Neural Networks – Must
·  Deep understanding of multiple machine learning and artificial intelligence frameworks and languages, such as:
·  Caffe
·  TensorFlow
·  Python (Numpy)
·  R
·  Understanding of code optimization in analytics and machine learning algorithms and models
·  Proven aptitude for writing complex SQL queries and scripting in Python, Bash, R, Perl, or similar.
·  Strong knowledge of tools for data processing and information retrieval
·  Experience with an industry vertical e.g. automotive, financial modelling, Bio-Science, Physics etc.
·  Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, iterative development environment.
·  Exemplary communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
·  Beneficial skills & experience include:
·  Data visualisation methodologies (eg. Tableau, Qlik, etc.)
·  Hadoop-plus
·  Container technologies like Kubernetes, Docker - plus
·  Knowledge and understanding of some data pipeline tooling, such as Dataiku

Education and Experience Required

·  Ph.D., or Masters with equivalent experience, in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related areas, with at least 3 years of experience in machine learning, data mining, and statistical analysis.
·  Proven aptitude for writing complex SQL queries and scripting in Python, Bash, R, Perl, or similar.
·  Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, iterative development environment.
·  Exemplary communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
·  Experience working with large data sets, distributed computing tools (Spark, Scala), and basic understanding of systems architecture preferred.
