Job description

We are currently looking for a Graphic Designer Intern with a flair for creativity and the ability to translate business communications into ‘must-read’ documents for our customers, to join our busy marketing team in Stevenage.

As part of a nine month internship, the Graphic Designer will play an integral part in developing creative concepts, graphics, layouts and illustrations for printed materials and websites and work collaboratively with the company’s existing Graphic Designers to ensure that all design work is delivered on time and in line with Herts for Learning’s brand style and guidelines. The Graphic Designer Intern will support the design process from concept through production/print to delivery and work across a range of marketing, training and corporate materials (on and offline). Materials will include brochures, leaflets, flyers, reports, adverts, newspapers and corporate literature, and will require close liaison with third party suppliers, including printers.

The desired candidate will be educated to degree level (ideally in graphic design) and will be passionate about design and marketing. They need to be highly creative, with an exceptional eye for detail and be experienced in desk top publishing and using publishing/graphic design packages including InDesign, Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Acrobat Pro, as well as software packages such as Microsoft Office. They need to be confident communicators with an enthusiastic and flexible approach to work and demonstrate a genuine desire to learn.

Desired profile

• Degree educated – ideally in Graphic Design
• Proficient in both Mac and PC environments
• An experienced and skilled user of desk top publishing / graphic design packages (i.e. InDesign, Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Acrobat Pro) and software packages such as Microsoft Office
• Exceptional eye for detail, precise layout skills and excellent proof reading skills
• An impressive portfolio of visual design work (to be shared at interview)
