Job Purpose:

The Senior Medical Scientific Liaison (Sr MSL) provides a field-based medical service and non-promotional medical support that helps to ensure evidence-based understanding of the science behind GSK medicines as well as gathering insights to inform GSK decisions and development of innovative medical affairs strategies and plans.

Senior MSL supports building long term sustainable medical relationships with our External Experts by identifying mutually beneficial opportunities that meet the strategic needs of internal stakeholders ensuring these relationships are built on trust for the benefit of patients.

Job Description:

·  Senior MSL will Serve as a new hire mentor, field coach, and resource for other members of the innovative MSL organization and will Coordinate training and education programs to ensure staff is trained as needed, including but not limited to relevant therapeutic areas
·  Senior MSL will do coaching for new MSLs and to oversight MSL practices, activities and serving as the role model to the MSL organization in Gulf.
·  The role will possess in depth knowledge of disease state and product. this will be recognized by internal and external customers as a disease state expert.
·  He/she will attend appropriate scientific meetings, do regular literature searched and library research, and will be expected to communicate regularly with the team to assure that the entire group benefits from individual learning whenever it is relevant.
·  Account for study delivery (Study accountable person) in Gulf where the role will support certain research initiatives across Gulf countries to include but not limited to, investigator and site evaluation and identification, recruitment, investigator meetings, external expert identification, and study management across different stages of our research
·  Understands regulator & payer needs, including payer-preferred endpoints, the reimbursement/ access decision-making framework and relevant legislation. Applies insights across other competencies.
·  Will coordinate and facilitate patient engagements initiatives in the therapy area by establishing process, operationalizing this across Gulf in line with the brand key strategies and priorities across Gulf markets.
·  Support the launch of new products and indications across Gulf through Working with Medical affairs and brand Cross functional team to develop and execute a customized plan designed to support and meet shared business objectives across gulf countries
·  Communicate and have scientific exchange about GSK products and therapeutic area with identified KEEs in a fair, balanced, and objective manner.
·  Expands on and leverages thought leader relationships by aligning thought leader expertise with GSK needs and successfully connects thought leaders internally to serve as advisors, investigators, expert guest speakers, or business development partners.
·  Regularly collects and interprets medical insights and feedback gathered from scientific exchange with thought leaders and communicates relevant information to internal stakeholders to define, update, and support the brand strategies.
·  Identify, consolidate, and communicate key insights and subsequently contribute to the translation of these insights into executable and innovative Medical Affairs strategies and plans that clearly define the value of our medicines / products to our customers.
·  Identify and engage the external community appropriately in robust scientific dialogue that generates insight and advances scientific and medical understanding as well as secure advice to inform the development of products of value, for the benefit of patients/ consumers.
·  MSLs scientific expertise in the disease area and GSK innovation uniquely positions them to engage with investigators and External experts early in the product development process to understand needs, identify and fill scientific knowledge gaps, and earn the trust of external experts as a go-to scientific resource. This drives best-in-class medical partnerships with EEs to provide non-promotional scientific and research support.
·  MSL role will involve partnering more systematically and strategically with Clinical Operations and Clinical Sciences on GSK studies and research.
·  Identifies and facilitates investigator supported studies (ISS) & and act as a point of contact for investigators to collect scientific ideas to address unmet needs aligned with GSK medical strategies.
·  Addresses unsolicited requests for medical information from health care professionals.
·  Anticipate the changing healthcare, regulatory & competitive environment throughout the product lifespan; delivers innovative strategies to inform evidence-based prescribing/ usage within this environment e.g. new comparator or real-world efficacy data.
·  Understand the impact of new data on the value/positioning of products in guidelines/ formularies
·  Provides ongoing scientific and medical training within the MSL team and to internal partners and stakeholders.
·  Leads, actively participates in and contributes to MSL or cross-functional projects and initiatives
·  MSL must ensure full compliance with GSK Code of practice, policies, SOPs and local laws & regulations for all country medical and promotional activities, in line with the principles of Scientific Engagement and promotional practices.

Knowledge/ Education / Previous Experience Required:

Education and Experience:

·  Medical Doctor/Pharmacy Degree, post graduate studies is an advantage
·  Experience in the Therapy Area (Respiratory, Severe Asthma, Chronic eosinophilic diseases, or speciality medicine experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry is a plus.
·  Medical Affairs Experience in a similar role is preferred, with Gulf countries experience is a plus.
·  2+ Years of experience as an MSL.

Essential Skills and Abilities:

·  A demonstrated understanding of the country/area healthcare environment, including knowledge of health technology assessments and market access challenges
·  Understanding of Pharmaceutical ethics and governance; and a clear understanding of pharmaceutical compliance policies and procedures
·  Basic financial and budget management
·  Prior experience with commercial product launches.
·  Prior experience with commercial and/or government payers.
·  Prior experience and willingness to travel extensively and globally
·  Expert public speaking and written communication skills.
