Biopharm Discovery is a department dedicated to the discovery of novel and effective biopharmaceutical medicines. This department comprises several complementary functions focused on the progression of a portfolio of biopharmaceuticals from initial antibody discovery, expression and characterisation to molecular engineering and biological and physiochemical profiling.

We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative biologist with experience in the field of biopharmaceutical drug discovery, to drive the discovery and development of first-in-class or best-in-class, novel multifunctional ‘enhanced' antibodies, through implementation of innovative technologies identified from business development partnerships, academic collaborations and internal research.

Working in the Antibody Technologies Section within Biopharm Discovery, you will be responsible for identifying potential breakthrough technologies and implementing technological advances, to open-up target space and discover better molecules faster than ever before.

Key Responsibilities;
• Identify and explore new and innovative technologies that can be developed in-house or through external partnerships, to advance our antibody discovery and development processes.
• Work closely with therapeutic area and research unit heads to develop modalities appropriate for the disease target biology.
• Manage scientific collaborations with biotech and academic partners.
• Support business development, due diligence and IP generation.
• Represent Antibody Technologies and Biopharm Discovery at internal and external scientific meetings.

Why You?

Basic qualifications:
• PhD or equivalent degree in Biomedical or Life Sciences with a broad knowledge of immunology, molecular biology, and biochemistry.
• Relevant postdoctoral experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.

Preferred qualifications:
• Proven experience in biopharmaceutical drug discovery and development
• Experience with diverse antibody discovery platforms such as phage display, yeast-based systems and immunization technologies desirable.
• Experience in the development of bispecific, multi-specific/multifunctional antibodies, and novel formats would be desirable.
• Experience in the therapeutic areas of oncology and inflammatory diseases would be advantageous.
• Proven track record in the evaluation, adoption and implementation of novel, technologies / methods.
• Able to forge effective business relationships with academic, pharma and biotech partners.
• Capable of working in multi-disciplinary teams and across therapeutic areas.
• Able to communicate complete and accurate information while maintaining confidentiality.
• Reliable and responsible team player with strong interpersonal skills.
• Excellent communication and networking skills.
• Strong “can do” mentality and motivation.
