Job description

Details:
The Automation Engineering Team provides technical expertise to support the manufacturing, automation and controls systems for all production operations at the GSK Ware GMS (Global Manufacturing and Supply) site to ensure production targets are achieved.

Due to the sustained long term expansion of the Ware site and the introduction of new products we are looking for a motivated, qualified engineer to join our team. Due to the breadth of services that the Team provides to the site we are able to consider suitably qualified recent graduates or more experienced experts who have a wealth of experience. We are able to taper the responsibilities of the role according to experience and skill-set, whilst providing on-the-job training, further education and support for personal development and progression within the company. Professional Registration up to CEng level is encouraged and supported.

Job Purpose:
You will provide technical expertise for the support of a wide range of manufacturing, automation and control systems on new and existing pharmaceutical equipment and facilities across the Ware site. As a member of the Engineering team you will act as the design authority, project member or technical lead on a number of projects for all aspects of automation, instrumentation and control from concept, system design, implementation, validation and support transition.

Day to day you will develop and follow standards and procedures for the automation systems on site, ensure the validated status of automation assets is maintained by the use of change control and configuration management, and update site documentation as appropriate. Production support is also required and you may also be aligned to specific areas acting as second level support contact. Other areas of responsibility may include vendor management, installation, commissioning, providing safety expertise and leading safety assessments where appropriate.

About You:
This role would suit a self-motivated individual who ideally has experience of working in a GMP (Quality) environment. Strong people skills and a proven ability to drive performance is a must. You will have a strong continuous improvement mindset and a willingness to work towards standardised and lean working practices. You will also be a strong-advocate for adherence to current Environment, Health and Safety legislation as well as GSK's policies and procedures to maintain safety. With a wide range of state of the art bespoke equipment on site, you will be challenged on a regular basis to not only maintain the status quo but to also continuously improve systems and processes.

For less experienced applicants we are looking to see that you have a clear understanding of these concepts and their importance within a pharmaceutical manufacturing process.
