Grays’ Derbyshire Associates Limited is a project and private equity business focused on the investment in alternatives and forward thinking project. We are currently working on a challenging and highly exciting project in automotive.

We are looking for a forward thinking, creative and talented individual that will lead helping us achieve part of this project.

The Role:

Responsible for the design and finalization of an automotive product
Managing products from conception to production
Creation of detailed part and assembly design drawings using modelling tools
Part management of bill of materials
Communication with suppliers for out sourced components
Possible communication with customers to define product design specifications
Creation of interface models
Working closely within a multi-disciplined team
Design of assembly and test tooling
Creation of production documentation
Working to tight project deadlines
Multitasking and adapting to changing project requirements within a fast-paced environment
Provide support to production department
Working with third party organisations and their engineers

Skills and Expertise:

Preferred

Experience within an engineering design role
BEng Mechanical Engineering degree, or equivalent technical degree.
Experience in mechanical design with an appreciation for automotive
Experience of working from fundamental mechanical engineering principles to solve engineering challenges.
Proficient in 3D CAD modelling and associated 2d drawing tools
Attention to detail and familiar with appropriate standards for the generation and checking of engineering drawings
Knowledge of manufacturing processes
Experience of material selection
Documenting and presenting to a high standard in internal design reviews and externally to customers

Desired profile

Highly Desirable

Experience with Solid Edge
Experience with battery principles including lithium and lead acid
Understanding of basic electrical/electronic principles
Minimum of two years’ experience within an engineering design role
Adept at researching, understanding and implementing technical solution methods when beyond current skill set
Generating sound mechanical design concepts, translating into working prototypes or production ready solutions and presenting results to a high standard.
