Job Summary & Responsibilities

Enterprise Platform (EP) Core Data is a small team of dedicated people who target the data needs and requirements of Goldman Sachs' front office. We deliver technology driven solutions for normalizing and analyzing real-time and reference data from a large number of sources, both inside and outside of the firm. These include: Reuters, Bloomberg, MarkIT, MSCI, Computstat, CapIQ, Axioma and IBES to name but a few.

We also capture around 500GB a day of high frequency real time data globally, covering Equities, FX, Commodities and Credit for both cash and derivatives. This is used by the desks for algo backtesting and trading. The groups focus is global in nature and covers all areas of GS's trading activity.

Technology Summary
• For reference data we use Perl, SQL and the Strategies in-house scripting language Slang. A background in alternative scripting languages will be considered (Python, Ruby etc.)
• For real-time data we employ C++.
• Our database platforms include Sybase ASE, Sybase IQ, ParAccel

Basic Qualifications

Distinguishing Features of Data Team
• First class analytical and problem solving skills
• The ability to understand data content and how it is used by the business (for instance writing post trade analysis reports).
• Diligent, detail focused and a good communicator.
• For real-time, a deep and thorough knowledge of C++ and low-latency multi-threading. Strong low-level/system optimization skills
• For reference/Big Data
• Application of databases to loading and manipulating financial data.
• Familiarity with many data sources and the ability to think about loading new data sources.

Preferred Qualifications

• Index/ETF specialist with scripting, SQL and feed handling experience (MSCI/FTSE/Markit/Netik(Delta One)).
• Real-time Data experience (Low latency, multi-threading C++, Reuters RMDS/RV, Wombat, Feed Handlers)
