Role Summary/Purpose

The Valve Assembly Technician will be skilled and understand the purpose and principles of operating pressure relief and/or control valves. In this role, you will be responsible for installation, connection, servicing, testing, adjustment, repair, maintenance, removal, trouble shooting, inspection and replacement of safety and relief valves.
Essential Responsibilities

In the role of Valve Assembly Technician, you will:

·  Assemble new safety relief valves to National Board V & UV Code

·  Repair used safety relief valves to National Board VR Code

·  Read and interpret manufacturers drawings and spring charts

·  Machine nozzles, discs and associated parts to OEM specifications

·  Perform measurements with: dial calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators

·  Apply advanced math skills to verify critical dimensions

·  Perform machine and hand lapping of nozzles and discs

·  Perform valve write-ups including: Nameplate data, Guide and nozzle ring settings, and spring number

·  Pressure and leak test valve to National Board and ASME standards

·  Valve testing with EVT

·  Provide account manager support by phone and email

·  Complete preventative maintenance on department equipment

·  Perform other duties as required
Qualifications/Requirements

·  High School Diploma / GED from an accredited school or institution

·  Minimum 2 years of Assembling safety valves experience

Eligibility Requirements:

·  Work overtime, weekends and holidays, as required

·  Work in a constant pushing, pulling, lifting, stretching, bending and other physical activities

·  Be in the shop environment a minimum of 8 hours per day, primarily standing and sitting, as required

·  Lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.

·  Be subjected to extreme heat for extended periods of time
Desired Characteristics

·  Working knowledge of National Board Inspection Code (NBIC) and American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)

·  Industrial safety and relief valve experience

·  Strong attention to detail and conscientious nature

·  Customer driven / focused

·  Strong verbal and written communication skills

·  Dedication to a safe work environment through effective housekeeping, workplace safety, etc.

·  Computer application literacy including Microsoft Office Suite, and ability to learn internal business systems

·  Ability to read and interpret documents such as master schedule, safety rules, operating instructions, drawings / prints and procedure manuals

·  Team oriented and willing to lead others
