Role Summary/Purpose

The Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) Research Intern will provide actionable intelligence on US and international drone and UTM efforts, policies, and regulatory development. The intern will also work with team members to refine the definition, architecture, and data interaction of UTM services being developed by AiRXOS.
Essential Responsibilities

In this role, the Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) Research Intern will perform exploratory and targeted analyses of US and international academic, government, and industry efforts involving UTM. This includes proposed and implemented policies and regulations related to beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) drone operations. Work with engineers and architects to bring identified research data to bear in helping to refine the definition of industry-leading UTM-related services. Generate reports, architecture diagrams, data flow diagrams, and other projects artifacts to document, archive, and communicate your work and outcomes. Share and discuss findings with team members. Work alongside product managers, drone pilots, and software engineers to translate validated services and architectures into commercially viable UTM products and services.
Intern assignments, typically 10 to 12 weeks in length, are dynamic and challenging based on the business needs and the type of work required. Interns have significant exposure to key technical leaders within AiRXOS; as well as a global internship support network to accelerate learning and development.
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree program at an accredited university Degree focused in Aerospace Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or similar
·  Minimum cumulative or in-major 3.0/4.0 GPA 
·  Must commit to working full time (40 hrs/wk) during the 10-12 week internship.

·  Demonstrated experience in technical research 
·  Leadership experience inside and/or outside the classroom
·  A strong dedication to a career in aerospace or robotics
·  Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to articulate clearly 
·  Shown creative problem solving and proactive learning
·  Previous intern or work experience
