Role Summary/Purpose
This entry level position will start with bias towards planned maintained of the AKTA range of chromatography equipment.
UK locations: Northampton/Cambridge or for M4/Oxford area.
Essential Responsibilities
· The role will report into the UK Field Service Management structure.
· Territory UKI – some EU support may be required but will be by x-boarder support request only.
· Full product training with be given, with progression against a defined and tiered skill set expected to take approximately 3 years. Typically, this will mean taking on minor break/fix events observed during the preventive maintenance schedule.
· Building skills to be tested against Job quality standards and the skill matrix.
· Individual development will be supported by the Field service management tier and formal mentoring with experienced engineers.
· Onward progression will be by merit and opportunity within the wider UK team/products and the evolving installed base.
· The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate aptitude towards rapid, parallel and repeatable execution of defined maintenance tasks to an aggressive timetable.
· Be highly organized, Key Business Objectives (KBO’s), pegged to the bonus structure will be defined.
· Naturally driven to eliminate “wastes” at every opportunity, cognizant of the benefits of continual small improvements in areas that are under local control.
· Pedantic in action, precise in documentation approachable in demeanor.
· Resilient in the face of internal and external customers’ demands to divert from primary task, but flexible enough to recognize the rare occasions that a concession may be necessary.
· The role will be 100% customer facing, all tasks can be carried out from the field via the mobile tools provided. Home working will be minimal and limited to e learning and minor administrative tasks.
Qualifications/Requirements
· HNC/Degree in engineering/scientific discipline or suitable transferrable experience or equivalent knowledge and experience
· UK – SW/SE England based
· Can demonstrate through activity based examples from the workplace or in education, aptitude to a field based technical role.
· Can demonstrate a hands-on approach to an electro-mechanical task at interview
· Basic IT skills, the ability to configure/extend a home router/network for example
