Role Summary/Purpose

As a Sr Staff Software Architect for GE Healthcare Digital Operations, you will be working on multiple projects as a hands-on project leader. In this role you will focus on auditing application architectures, setting standards, and influencing future investment to reduce technical debt in our critical application portfolio.
Essential Responsibilities

You will drive the design, develop,and maintain custom technologies to support application operations and compliance. You will also work on projects to identify process failures in business critical operations, recommend solutions, and implement automated controls to reduce future risk. This role will report to the Director, Application Architecture and Automation for GE Healthcare.

In this role, you will:

·  Define and assess objective baseline standards for GE Healthcare critical apps

·  Analyze application portfolios, identify dependencies & common platform components

·  Implement, promote & maintain design patterns to assist application teams with architecture optimization

·  Identify and support application refactoring opportunities to improve resiliency, scalability & efficiency

·  Provide guidance to application owners & engineers during all phases of their projects

·  Develop peer, cross-functional relationships to maximize best practice sharing and team effectiveness

·  Partner across teams to influence & promote vendor products with GE Healthcare application teams
Qualifications/Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

·  Bachelor’s Degree. Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). preferred

·  A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a technical area (Architecture, Software, or Information Technology) or (a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of experience in Information Technology or Software).

·  Must be willing to travel 10%

·  Must be willing to work out of an office located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Wauwatosa, Wisconsin; Van Buren Township, Michigan; Amersham UK; Krakow, Poland; or Bangalore India
Desired Characteristics

Technical Expertise:

·  Working knowledge of large-scale service architectures like load balancing, clustering, distributed systems, content delivery networks, service oriented architectures, and message queueing systems.

·  Experience developing automated solutions that combine data from APIs, endpoints, and DBs.

·  Works collaboratively at enterprise level to remain current, relevant, and influential with regard to the suitability of technologies for a wide variety of technical challenges.

Business Acumen:

·  Experience working within an Agile team (Scrum, Kanban, Extreme Programming)

·  Understand key cross-functional concepts that impact the organization; is aware of business priorities and organizational dynamics.

·  Ability to explain issues and resolutions to technical and non-technical staff

Leadership:

·  Familiar with concepts of costing hardware and software components. Works to assure work is on-time and within budget.

·  Delivers tasks on-time with alignment to architectural goals. Can identify and raise issues, risks and benefits.

·  Participates in change initiatives by implementing new directions and providing appropriate information and feedback.
