Role Summary/Purpose

The Electrical Power group has significantly grown in the last decade and will continue to grow in the next. To support this growth, we are looking to recruit aviation an electrical power Staff Engineer. In this role, you will work with the Sales team, Commercial Operation, Research & Development, and the wider Electrical Power community to develop the technical solutions that meet the customers’ needs for new and existing platforms.
Essential Responsibilities

Support to Sales. You will meet with customers and present GE technical capability in the context of the likely needs of that specific customer. You will be able to assimilate the customers’ needs and requirements quickly and efficiently and present winning solutions convince and them that our solutions provide them with the best through life value.
Technical Response to Request for Information and Proposal. During the RFI and RFP processes, you will be the technical lead for the proposed solution. This will require you to understand the customers market, the objectives of the aircraft and the subsequent power system requirements. You will perform complex trades spanning the major Key Performance Indicators such as FTP, NRE, through life cost, weight, safety, reliability and maintainability. From this you will develop the system architecture and concept definition. You will be required to write a technical response explaining the value of the solution offered to the customer. You will also be required to present the solution face to face with the customer.
Product and Architecture Development Research. Drawing on your knowledge of customers’ expectation, you will influence Electrical Power stakeholders to ensure research objectives and product strategy be aligned to market needs. As required, you will also work within the Electrical Power research team developing the next generation of electrical power systems, typically as a Systems Lead Engineer.
Engineering Quality. Assuring the proper and effective use of technical data for the assigned projects, consistent with engineering policies and procedures. As required, contributing to organizational initiatives and continuous improvement activities.
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Deep domain knowledge of electrical power systems for both military and civil aircraft, including experience of RTCA DO-178, DO-254, SAE ARP4754A or similar rigorous development standards.
·  Significant knowledge of embedded system technology, architectures & designs for implementation in hardware and software.
·  Demonstrated experience of leading the design of electrical power systems, interacting across functional areas.
·  Ability to perform complex engineering trades promptly and efficiently.
·  Strong written & verbal communication skills.
·  Ability to coordinate activities across multiple agencies, resolving ambiguity and differences effectively and efficiently.
·  Ability to listen to customers, GE leaders and teams and to inspire them.
·  Willingness to travel, notably to customers.
·  A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Applied Physics or similar level of knowledge and experience.
