Role Summary/Purpose

As a User Interface Sr Software Engineer, you will be responsible for applications that deliver brilliant user experiences to our customers in the electric utility industry.
Essential Responsibilities

In this role, you will join a platform team in charge creating new applications and modernizing existing products using the latest web technologies, and leveraging GE
Digital’s Predix Industrial Internet platform (http://predix.io) and the Predix Design System (http://predix-ui.com). You will be responsible of driving the design, implementation and adoption of these web technologies across the whole portfolio, providing other product teams reusable web components, services and UI a comprehensive and flexible UI infrastructure. While this role will primarily focus on client-side technologies, the ability and desire to work “full-stack” is highly desirable.

As the Sr Software Engineer, you will:

Be responsible for providing technical leadership and defining, developing, and evolving software in a fast paced and agile development environment using the latest
software development technologies and infrastructure

·  Work with managers, product owners, and subject matter experts (SMEs) to understand product requirements & vision

·  Translate requirements / vision into prioritized list of user stories and deliver to required timelines and quality standards

·  Drive increased efficiency across the teams, eliminating duplication, leveraging product and technology reuse

·  Support process improvements which guide the development, sustaining & support activities

·  Coach, mentor and lead the team especially with regards to HTML5-related technologies in web applications

·  Engage subject matter experts in successful transfer of complex domain knowledge

·  Apply principles of good software design, SDLC Agile (Scrum) methodology, CI / CD, and practices like refactoring, TDD, etc., to deliver high quality, robust, secure, and
exceptional software

·  Write code that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the project (for newer activities, this will primarily be HTML5 / CSS3, and TypeScript / JavaScript in the Angular framework working with a variety of back-end server)

·  Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability
Qualifications/Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

·  Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)

·  Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Software Development OR Master’s degree with 3 years of experience in Software Development.

·  Must be willing to work out of an office in Melbourne FL
Desired Characteristics

·  Some occasional travel (1-3 times per year) may be required

·  Experience with TypeScript or ES6/ES2015

·  Basic understanding of serverside CSS pre-processing platforms, such as SASS Experience with Web Components and WC libraries (e.g. Polymer)

·  Experience with relevant tooling (package managers,module loaders, bundlers, task runners, etc.)

·  Experience with Node.js

·  Proficient understanding of responsive design, crossbrowser / cross-device compatibility issues and ways to work around them

·  Experience with testing approaches and tools (e.g. Jasmine, Karma, Selenium, Protractor, etc.)

·  Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as git, or svn

·  Working knowledge of Java software and frameworks like Spring / Spring Boot to develop microservices

·  Experience with Windows and Unix / Linux based programming

·  Experience working on software projects in the Energy domain (Energy Management, Power Generation, Renewables)

·  Experience with JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3 and DOM.

·  Minimum of 2 years experience with frameworks such as Angular or React (Angular 2 exposure)
