Role Summary/Purpose

As an Engineer working in the Product Development team you will work closely with your peers in fast-paced Agile development teams using the latest software development technologies and infrastructure. We are looking for candidates with a passion for front-end and back-end development.
Essential Responsibilities

• Has the ability to take ownership of small tasks and deliver without supervision while using their discretion to seek help when necessary. 

• Demonstrate the ability to help team members through pair programming and code reviews. 
• Demonstrates awareness about product positioning and differentiations. 
• Has the ability to evaluate basic technology choices and articulate tradeoffs.  
• Applies principles of SDLC and Lean/Agile/XP/TDD/CI/CD methodologies to deliver high quality, secured, and scalable software modules.  
• Skilled in writing code that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the project. 

• Skilled in core data structures and algorithms and implements them using language of choice

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) or equivalent
• Strong professional experience

Desired Characteristics

For our front-end role you will have experience or at least knowledge and an interest in some of the following: 

• Modern web application technologies: Polymer 2.0, Web Components, Service Workers, Bower, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSON, LESS, JQuery and MVC 

• Building apps on top of restful APIs using large volumes of data 
• Building apps using node.js 
• Canvas rendering in JavaScript 
• Angular 2, React, npm, gulp-sass, Unity, Cesium, D3, other gaming technologies 
• Developing mobile (phone, tablet) applications and using responsive design 
• Knowledge of Web Security principles – OWASP 
• Knowledge of key UX and design principles 

For our back-end role you will have experience or at least knowledge and an interest in some of the following: 

• Building apps using node.js 

• Designing and developing multi-tenant enterprise software services and components, with a focus on scale. 
• Developing highly robust and high throughput enterprise Cloud applications 
• Delivering cloud-based solutions using RESTful Web services and technologies such as Cloud Foundry 
• Using SQL databases in a micro-service architecture 
• Server-side data processing technologies such as ELK 
• Knowledge of Web Security principles – OWASP 
• Containerisation and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes 
• Handling the ingestion and management at scale of geospatial data (or similar connected network paradigm) 
• Using Postgres, RabbitMQ and Redis 
• Working with Big Data / Hadoop and NoSQL Databases
