Role Summary/Purpose

The Quality Control Manager is responsible for operation of the quality control laboratories including supervision, development, and competency of manufacturing quality personnel. Oversees quality control receiving inspection, and raw material and finished product release.
Essential Responsibilities

In addition, as the Quality Control Manager, you will:

·  Direct supervision of employees and activities in the quality control department in the performance of plant lab testing and analysis

·  Ensure adequate staffing of quality inspectors and technicians to meet business needs

·  Conduct training on quality control methods for lab analysts and other plant employees

·  Develop, validate, qualify, and implement laboratory methods for product, in-process, and raw material analysis

·  Coordinate with other GE manufacturing and research locations to transfer test methods to the Huntsville facility

·  Ensure preventive maintenance and calibration is current for all laboratory equipment
·  Troubleshoot faulty equipment and coordinate timely repairs

·  Evaluate and install new laboratory equipment as needed

·  Prepare standard operating procedures for analytical methods and instrumentation

·  Conduct receiving inspection of raw materials and release to production

·  Coordinate product inspection and release

·  Initiate non-conformances and coordinate material review board disposition

·  Coordinate with outside laboratories to conduct analysis as needed

·  Collect and report quality metrics

·  Identify and implement quality control improvements such as QMS changes, method simplification, waste reduction, or yield improvement

·  Investigate quality incidents and lead root cause analysis and corrective action implementation
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 6 years of experience in Quality, Quality Control, Manufacturing or related field)

·  Three years of experience in a quality control or materials testing lab (Including Lab supervisory experience; Experience developing laboratory methods)

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS :

·  Standard working hours with on call responsibilities

·  This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment

·  Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening
Desired Characteristics

·  Ceramics, Chemistry, or Metallurgy degree from an accredited university or college

·  Expertise with microscopy including SEM, tensile testing, FTIR, GPC, and particle size analysis

·  Experience in a certified materials testing lab

·  Experience with polymer testing

·  Experience in MSA and/or metrology

·  Experience with laboratory information management systems

·  Working knowledge of ISO 9001

·  ISO 9001 / AS9100 Auditor training

·  Training and certification in Six Sigma or similar methodology a plus

·  Strong oral and written communication skills

·  Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

·  Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills

GE Aviation is investing more than $200 million to construct two factories on 100 acres in Huntsville, Alabama. One plant will mass produce silicon carbide (SiC) ceramic fiber, the first high volume production operation in the U.S. The adjacent GE factory on the same campus will use the SiC ceramic fiber to make unidirectional CMC prepreg necessary to fabricate the CMC components.
