Job Overview:
The Asheville Quality Assurance Specialist role involves the inspection of complex rotating jet engine components, working with unique aerospace alloys. This role will utilize a variety of precision CNC and conventional inspection equipment in a clean, temperature-controlled environment. The Quality Assurance Specialist will be required to utilize a variety of precise measuring equipment, following work instructions, planning, drawings, blueprints, etc. Work will involve inspecting hardware with tight tolerances and fine finishes to ensure customer specifications and aerospace standards are met. Individuals will participate as a team to identify and implement process improvement opportunities that focus on safety, quality, delivery, cost, and human development.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
· Demonstrated ability to read, understand, and follow process operation sheets, tooling sheets, quality specifications, blueprints, GD&T, and associated quality documents
· Demonstrated ability to utilize precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and surface finish gages, etc. to measure physical dimensions and accurately record the data
· Required ability to follow set up instructions for the applicable machine being utilized (examples: CMM, Genspect, Tracer, etc.)
· Required to perform mathematical calculations as required
· Ability to perform a variety of inspections including first piece, last piece, in-process, and first article
· Assist with verifying dimensions that cannot be completed at the machine
· Verify dimensions completed by a machinist to ensure accuracy
· Devise precision measuring aides (ex. gage blocks, rotary tables, etc.) to accurately complete inspections
· Successfully complete operator certification requirements, including the Characteristics Verification Process, and applicable GE certifications
· Required to administer CVP practical tests for annual operator certification
· Understand part process flow (incoming / outgoing) and keep open lines of communication with production scheduler to understand and plan commitments for the week
· Perform preventative maintenance checks on machines. Ability to fill out Maximo request for maintenance issues.
· Be an active contributing member of a high-performance work team focused on problem solving and process improvement
· Perform tasks that require manual dexterity (ability to use both hands as required for set up and inspection, etc.)
· Complete all required training on time (ex. compliance, HR related, job specific, EHS, Lean, etc.)
· Required to escalate safety concerns and willingness to participate in solving the concern
· Familiarity with computer systems such as Outlook e-mail, and Shop Floor menu applications; as well as concepts such as lean manufacturing.
· Required to create NCR (Non-Conformance Record) when non-conformance is identified and work with support team
· Willingness to train and mentor new team members, actively participate in daily team meetings/activities, cooperate/relate well with others, practice direct/professional communication in all interactions, considers opinions different from their own, maintain an excellent attendance record, and work to understand the needs of their team, facility, and customer.
Basic Qualifications/Requirements:
· Required to have a High School Diploma, or GED equivalent
· One year experience working from detailed instructions and planning required
· One year experience reading simple blueprints, and the ability to perform simple mathematics such as addition, subtraction of decimals and fractions required.
· One year experience using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, etc.) required.
· Required to have a 1-year machining certificate or 2 years machining experience (ex. turning, milling, grinding, etc.) or 2 years’ experience performing quality assurance duties in a machining facility
· Demonstrated ability with computer applications (Outlook email, shop floor applications, etc.)

· Ability to work overtime (OT)
This role may encounter high risk or hazardous operations and/or include working shifts beyond a standard workweek. As such, a requirement of the role is to be at least 18 years of age by the time of joining.
This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
