The Production Engineer will demonstrate expertise in production engineering, provide strong communication of business goals and processes, and have the

Essential Responsibilities

The CMC Value Stream’s proprietary technology uses chemical process at many of our sites. At GE Aviation, EHS and Process Safety are core to our business success, and we are committed to committed to establishing and implementing robust systems to drive best-in-class performance. The Slurry Production Engineer is responsible for defined work or projects with moderate complexity. In this role, you will follow an individual work plan, meet day-to-day
short-term objectives, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.

·  Own the slurry and tape systems safety, functionality, stability, and uptime in a manufacturing shop operation environment

·  Reduce cost of existing processes through alternate processing techniques, lower-cost raw materials, reduced touch-labor time, Lean manufacturing, and improved first time yield

·  Monitor, control and improve production process consistency by using statistical process control tools and Six-Sigma methodology

·  Ability to present data and results in weekly/daily based manufacturing and engineering operations meetings

·  Solve problems in production processes through root-cause analysis, variation reduction, and adhering to ISO9001 / AS9100 quality management system requirements

·  Document processes and train production staff

·  Work with teams of production staff, product / quality engineers as well as customers to meet customers’ technical and schedule needs

Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (Or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Manufacturing)

·  Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineering Specialist

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT(S):

·  Ability and willingness to work off shift (2nd shift), as required

Desired Characteristics

·  Knowledge of inorganic powder and organic solvent resin material processing, polymer and inorganic material science and engineering, including rheological behavior characterization and computational material flow modeling

·  Experience and expertise in mechanical system and equipment design

·  Experience and expertise in data collection, database establishment, and statistical process control in large-scale manufacturing environment & equipment

·  Demonstrated ability to work in a Process Safety Management (PSM) environment

·  Edison Engineering Development Program graduate (GE employees only)

·  Certified GreenBelt / BlackBelt (GE employees only)

·  Strong statistical analysis

·  Strong organizational skills

·  Ability to handle diverse activities simultaneously

·  Ability to work in a matrix organization

·  Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

·  Strong oral and written communication skills

·  Ability to communicate effectively and contribute to team projects

·  Strong project and team leadership

GE Aviation is investing more than $200 million to construct two factories on 100 acres in Huntsville, Alabama. One plant will mass produce silicon carbide (SiC) ceramic fiber, the first high volume production operation in the U.S. The adjacent GE factory on the same campus will use the SiC ceramic fiber to make unidirectional CMC prepreg necessary to fabricate the CMC components.
