Role Summary/Purpose

Maternal & Infant Care(MIC) business is looking for a smart Principal Engineer who is well rounded - quality conscious, product thinkers, business cognizant and brilliant software engineer. The Principal Engineer sets the technology vision and direction towards MIC Products Software technology & Architecture. The Engineering GM and Chief Engineer rely upon Principal Engineers to innovate and differentiate.
Essential Responsibilities

Duties include (but are not limited to):

The Principal Software Engineer requires a strategic understanding of the patient/customer needs, product technology and intellectual property of GE Healthcare as well as our competitors.

Road-map and Next Gen Technology:
•Own the MIC Software road-map and technology planning, collaboration to realize the road-map and technology plan.
•Own and drive the next gen software platform and technology adoption strategy for the upcoming NPI’s in the MIC business.
•Multi-generation segment technology planning and rationalization experience with an excellent understanding of product system architecture(s), platforms and core technologies
•Influencing segment leadership and segment direction through action-oriented recommendations based upon market, competition, and technology

Products:
•Conceptualize, lead and deliver Advanced Technology Development (ATD) projects to enable risk-free adoption of new technology and software components in the MIC NPIs
•Leads evolution and maintenance of the high level architecture of MIC products. Constantly strive to evolve the product architecture and improve its maturity levels, modularity and flexibility
•Gather and analyze technical specifications to fully understand the requirements and ensure that a high quality solution is produced
•Active participation/lead critical installed base issue resolution for the MIC software across the product family

External Focus:
•Build domain expertise and keep abreast on new technology, processes, systems & tools introduced for software engineering within GEHC and Externally •Influence strategic development of global product road-maps and product features suite with a focus on technical differentiation that addresses key customer needs
•Serving as a technical readiness focal point for all and across GE Healthcare India technology organization.

Processes:
•Lead improvement of software development processes and procedures at MIC.
•Provide leadership and direction for Agile, SAFe (scaled agile framework) adoption & implementation and test automation for upcoming NPIs
•Provide leadership in Software development practices across the sites

People and Organization:
•Coaching and mentoring in order to develop the engineering community in process, career growth and technical excellence
•Active participation in talent development and initiatives around technology at the HCT India

Quality Specific Goals:
1.Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position
2.Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines
3.Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required
4.Drive compliance/closure of Regulatory and Quality requirements before approving Design Outputs/Program deliverable
5.Champion continuous improvement activities by initiating process and product quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications/Requirements

1.Bachelors Degree within appropriate Engineering/Science discipline with 15+ years progressive experience as a software engineer.
2.4-5 years of software leadership experience, leading design and development of complex software applications and software components
3.Excellent communication, collaboration, judgment, organizational and problem solving skills; technical, project and personnel at various levels in the organization 4.The ability to channel high-level guidance to direct the building of large and complex software applications.
5.Experience coaching and mentoring software engineers at multiple levels in the organization
6.Strong knowledge of Agile software methodologies (XP, Scrum)
7.Contributed in driving technical changes across a segment of products
Desired Characteristics

1.Masters or PhD Degree in Engineering or equivalent
2.7-8 years technical leadership experience within software develop and product development discipline
3.Exposure and knowledge of Predix For Healthcare software solutions platform at GE
4.Strategic planner and thinker with ability to drive change across the segment products
5.Demonstrated experience on global product releases throughout the entire NPI cycle
6.Demonstrated LEAN skill
7.Deep knowledge in Software design concepts, System architecture and UML Concepts
8.Industry expert at least 2 of below technologies and sound technical experience in remaining functional area’s
