Role Summary/Purpose

The Principal Engineer, Power System Analysis Software will work closely with customers to develop new functionality primarily for steady-state power system analysis provide product and application support, maintain existing code, train new users on the application and use of the software products, and provide consulting services.

Essential Responsibilities

As the Principal Engineer, Power System Analysis Software you will:

·  Enhance and develop core power-flow algorithms for GE PSLF (Positive Sequence Load Flow) program used for power systems analysis
·  Enhance and develop the power systems contingency processor, short circuit analysis, optimal power flow, and geomagnetic disturbance analysis functionality in the software
·  Actively participate in a working environment where teamwork, quality, customer service and innovation are prized
·  Work closely with customers to develop new functionality to meet the changing needs of the industry
·  Participate in sales and marketing activities, including customer presentations
·  Participate in the development and application of software QA processes
·  Train users on the application and use of software products
·  Provide consulting services to internal and external clients utilizing power system analysis tools and methodologies

Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (i.e., computer science, computer systems engineering, engineering, physics, mathematics) from an accredited university or college, and eight (8) years of experience; OR Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited university or college with a minimum of six (6) years of experience; OR PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field with a minimum of four (4) years of experience
·  Minimum 2 year of programming experience in C, C++, or C#
·  Minimum 2 years of developing power flow or optimal power flow solution algorithms

Desired Characteristics

·  Demonstrated knowledge of contingency processing techniques and industry reliability standards like North American Electric Reliability Corporation's (NERC’s) TPL (Transmission Planning), TOP (Transmission Operations) and MOD (Modeling, Data and Analysis) standards
·  Demonstrated knowledge of power systems generation, operations and control
·  Demonstrated knowledge of algorithm development, particularly with respect to optimization, short circuit, geomagnetic disturbance modeling, dynamics, and numerical solution techniques
·  Experience programming in Python
·  Experience with MS Office tools, including PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Access
·  Strong ability to work independently in providing technical services to customers, and a desire to aggressively pursue and correct program issues.

·  Excellent oral and written communication skills
