Role Summary/Purpose

The PET-MR Neurology Research Fellow role is a two-year position, focused on innovation & analytics; namely obtaining the most out of a combined PET and MRI neurological exam on GE’s latest dual modality PET-MR scanners.
Essential Responsibilities

Following optimisation of the PET-MR scanning protocol, the successful candidate will use and configure our extensive PET and MR neuro-processing tools on a clinical cohort which comprises of subjects from a range of cognitive health. This role will help GE Healthcare drive innovation in the R&D Core Imaging organisation.

This is a fixed term role, for the duration of 2 years.

Duties include (but are not limited to):
• Assessment of current PET-MRI brain imaging protocols and optimisation of these in association with GE Healthcare’s Application Specialists and life sciences image analysis experts.
• Exploratory image processing of PET-MRI data including partial volume correction
• Creation of a centiloid value for the GE PET-MR from amyloid SUVR measures
• Use of MRI and PET-amyloid analysis tools (PMOD, Freesurfer and FSL) to create biomarker assessments from patients scanned with PET-MRI amyloid exams
• Assess and report on optimal analysis tool configurations, with a view to recommending implementation by Healthcare systems
• Lead publishing efforts in the report out of PET-MR amyloid analysis
• Travel to GE Healthcare’s PET-MRI installed machines in the U.K. and Europe for collaborative endeavours
• Attend workshops and present on results obtained with PET-MR

Quality Specific Goals:
1. Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position
2. Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines
3. Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required.
4. Ensure compliance/closure of Regulatory and Quality requirements before approving Design Outputs/Program Deliverables
5. Lead continuous improvement activities by driving the implementation of process and product quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications/Requirements

• PhD Degree in Life Sciences, Physics, Biomedical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
• Proven experience in analysing medical images, and familiarity with structural and molecular imaging
• Demonstrated record of innovation in the area of scientific expertise
• Excellent communication, influencing skills and ability to gain buy-in for initiatives
Desired Characteristics

• Familiarity with neuro-imaging tools such as SPM8, PMOD, Freesurfer or FSL
• Proven ability to write scientific articles
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Experience with research collaborations
• Self-starter, energizing, results oriented, and able to multi-task
• Demonstrated problem solving ability and results orientation
• Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, matrixed, and customer focused environment
