Role Summary/Purpose

LM Wind Power is experiencing growth where the technological development pushes the boundaries faster than ever. The new products, production processes, transport solutions and other developing areas of interest need increased attention. Our engineers are coming up with many new ideas to be handled by the patent team and our patent portfolio is continuously increasing. We are seeking a patent attorney to strengthen our team.
Essential Responsibilities

As patent attorney you will work with all aspects of patent work, such as:

• Patent searches and analysis of scientific documents.
• Prepare patent applications following EP Guidelines.
• Working with LM’s IP counsel and R&D team regarding clearance issues.
• IP landscaping.
• Invention acquisition.
• Collaborate with both inhouse and external patent attorneys
• Contributing to the successful resolution of interparty proceedings, such as opposition proceedings before the European Patent Office.
• Directing overseas attorneys to support the strategies of the business.
• Competitor monitoring.
• Promotion of IP awareness through education and training.
• Tutor and mentor other members the IP team.

The patent team is based on 5 different location in 4 different time zones and works closely with internal and external stakeholders and provides IP-services necessary to secure our investment in new technologies and provide freedom to operate and innovate in the field of wind turbine blades.
Qualifications/Requirements

We expect that you have a technical background ideally as a mechanical or electro engineer. We are open to candidates with other relevant technical backgrounds, for example, physics degrees. You will have worked within the patent area for several years. Most important, you understand complex, technical ideas, and appreciate how intellectual property supports the commercial aims of the business. You may be a full or part qualified European Patent Attorney alternatively an fully qualified UK Patent Attorney.

The successful candidate will work in close co-operation with internal stakeholders, such as inventors, and colleagues in the wider GE family of businesses, and external counsel.
LM patent engineers work with dedicated colleagues across the world. The successful candidate will be provided with opportunities to develop both professionally and personally.

You will be based in our headquarters in Kolding, Denmark.

As a person, we expect that you are self-driven team-player able to work independently and systematically in a transparent manner, with the ability to work under pressure. You will take responsibility and set high standards by which your work is measured. A thirst for knowledge is essential, as is a desire to continually develop your skills within all aspects of patent-related work. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills and empathy, with the ability to build productive relationships with a wide group of stakeholders. Fluency in written and spoken English is essential.
