Role Summary/Purpose

Due to increased production demands, GE Aviation in Norwich, NY has an opening for a 1st shift Assembler / Tester in our Lean Line 2 Department. The shift hours are from 7:00am - 3:30 pm.
Essential Responsibilities

In addition you will :

·  Participate in and support team initiatives

·  Receive guidance from higher level employees

·  Cross-train other employees as needed based upon knowledge and experience

·  Compliantly complete all written and / or electronic labor tracking documentation

·  Report problems to appropriate resource and / or Coach

·  Keep all shift operators informed on special problems involving operation or set up

·  Communicate with team to ensure all team members are aware of new processes and / or issues

·  May interact with internal cross-functional teams (i.e. – planning)

·  May assist with proto-type or first time builds with guidance from higher level employees

·  Assists Engineering and / or Team in development and / or improvement of layout procedures and process sheets

·  Perform inventory counts and verification

·  Review expiration date of materials to ensure materials & equipment to ensure all are current

·  Operate high temperature ovens and furnaces

·  Assemble parts according to process sheet / print instructions

·  Perform testing as required (i.e. – dielectric, meggar, hipot, etc.)

·  Performs electrical, mechanical, magnetic testing as required

·  Operates laser marker, electro-etch & vibropene as required

·  Perform in-process hi-pot testing

·  Perform basic set up of fixtures

·  Perform vapor blasting as required

·  Solder Certified as required

·  Braze Certified as required

·  Possess certification on Electro-Static discharge as required

·  Proactively work to improve efficiency and quality of products

·  Good housekeeping skills

·  Utilize proper PPE, safety equipment, and follow safety procedures

·  Other duties as required per department
Qualifications/Requirements

·  High School Education and / or GED

Skill Level Required :

·  Requires use of basic hand tools and measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, rulers with training (Basic hand tools such as crimpers, soldering iron, wire strippers, brazing equipment, etc.)

·  Proficient in use of basic computer applications

·  Basic understanding of blueprint and process sheet interpretation

·  Understanding of basic mathematical principles

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS :

·  Visual Acuity Exam is required

·  Solder Certified as required

·  Braze Certified as required

·  Possess certification on Electro-Static discharge as required

·  This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment
Desired Characteristics

·  Previous manufacturing experience preferred

·  Preferred assembly, solder experience and electronics manufacturing experience

·  Be comfortable working with multiple chemicals and / or gas compounds

·  Past experience in a self-directed teaming environment

·  Familiarity with 6S & lean manufacturing knowledge
