Role Summary/Purpose

This position serves a key technical role within the MRI/MRS research & development team of a world-leading medical imaging manufacturer to develop new imaging methods for the next-generation of products. The successful candidate will collaborate with academic partners to develop and test new approaches and work with a team of GE scientists and engineers to design solutions that can be integrated into product frameworks to serve our global patient population.
Essential Responsibilities

·  Responsibilities include being the driving voice in advancing clinical research and collaborations with Aarhus University (AU) and Aarhus University Hospital (AUH)

·  Working with the collaborator clinicians, physicists, and technologists to optimize scanner utility; identifying and prioritizing what research and resources best align to product development and clinical evidence objectives; planning and justifying the feasibility, research, and development studies; ensuring any collaboration is conducted in a timely and satisfactory manner to provide feedback and deliverables to the business and institution; and driving communication and use of results into the business and industry

·  Serve as GE technical lead on collaborative projects with academic partners on C13 hyperpolarized MR-imaging/-spectroscopy, PET/MR imaging and related fields to generate results that are in alignment with GE goals

·  A special focus will be the development and evaluation of the world’s first and only whole body MNS transmit coil

·  Provide technical leadership and expertise for data analytics and solution design.

·  Work with an inter-disciplinary GE team to translate promising prototypes into product readiness and lead technical/clinical risk retirement towards new product introduction

·  Conduct original research resulting in patent applications and scientific publications

·  Develop new features as prototypes and deploy to external collaborators following GE design controls processes

·  Effectively communicate technical analyses, results, and ideas to GE leaders

·  Identify industry and academic trends in the areas of precision medicine relevant to GE

·  Leverage Aarhus University as an international reference site

Qualifications/Requirements

·  Ph.D. Degree in an engineering or science field such as Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Math or Physics

·  In order to be eligible for funding through the Innovation Foundation, the doctorate must have been completed not longer than 5 years ago

·  Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience (Medical Imaging, Image Processing application development preferred) applying theoretical or experiential knowledge to solve real world problems, ideally MR

·  Experience interacting with customers in various situations

·  Strong knowledge of MR pulse sequences/acquisition techniques and K-space sampling and
reconstruction strategies used by various clinical applications

·  Experience in C or similar programming

·  Ability to work independently with minimal direction

·  Supporting conferences, symposiums, customer seminars and internal training events

·  Ability to travel 10-20% of the time

·  Excellent English language communication skills

Desired Characteristics

·  Experience in MR hyperpolarization imaging, preferably with C13

·  Knowledge of emerging Non-Cartesian Acquisition/Reconstruction Techniques, ultrafast
imaging technologies, motion correction techniques and MR image artifacts

·  Experience working with C, Linux and MATLAB

·  Experience with source control tools (Perforce & Git)

·  Experience with High Performance Compute or GPU technologies

·  Basic knowledge about PET imaging; some experience would be appreciated

·  Danish language skills
